Pre Taped Masking Film is easy to use and covers a large area once you unfold it. The film is very thin and you can easily rip it with a fingernail when laying it down. Wish it was a few mils thicker! Otherwise it does the job well.

    • Tape and Film Are Each Fine, but the Combination Doesn’t Work Well

I’m in the middle of some drywall work including knockdown texturing of a ceiling. Always need lots of tape and masking for projects like this. Thought this would be great to use with my painter’s tape and masking dispenser. Instead of having to apply the tape, it would just be a dispenser and cutter for the roll of pre-taped masking film. That idea fell apart rapidly when I tried to put the roll on my dispenser. Instead of being on a cardboard tube with an interior diameter of 1”, it has an ID of 1-1/2”. Since I’m working on a small scaffold and a sloping ceiling, I can’t just easily run it the full distance, then cut it. With my dispenser, I can tape it for a set distance, then cut it with the same hand I’m holding the dispenser with. It’s also really hard to line up the top edge of the wall and ceiling without the dispenser. The cardboard tube is the same ID as a paint roller so I tried using a short roller first, but it only made it more difficult. Tried pulling off a set amount on a flat surface, cutting it, and then take it to put up. Nope. The thin film constantly jumps to the tape via static pull, making a complete mess of everything. I finally decided to run my tape dispenser for trim to lay down a good straight edge, then use the pre-taped masking film on top of it while unrolling it with only my hand. This worked the best, but if I lifted the roll up even the smallest amount, the film jumped to the tape, so I had to keep it right next to the wall all the time, even as I cut it. Amazon Vine sent this product to me for an honest unbiased review. Would I recommend it? No, not really. Get one that has a 1” ID to fit a dispenser, and maybe a slightly thicker film, or something without the static draw this one has. I’ve done lots of masking and a fair amount of masking with film. This was a disaster. It wasn’t so bad when I developed the right technique, but even then, it was much more difficult than it needed to be. Maybe other people will be better able to use it than me. Go for it. As for me, I want one that fits my dispenser. ... show more

This is a great idea with not a lot of application. The plastic is thin and the tape would not stick very well to anything but the plastic attached to it. It gets 2 stars because I was able to make it work but I would not use this again.

What painter doesn't like pre-taped masking film? This stuff works wonders for those who don't have drop cloths. I have both. When it comes to interior painting though, having the pre-taped masking film is always a big help and good support behind a drop cloth. Overall I am pleased with this pre-taped masking film and would likely recommend it to my friends and relatives and rate it five stars. ... show more

    • Light mil with tape that actually holds

The green painters tape has very good adhesion but doesn't leave residue when removed. It holds but upon removal I didn't have any damage on old painted surfaces or unfinished drywall. The plastic is a light mil and is about 4.5ft when layer out. This does speed up prep times and at about 7 bucks per 65' it pays for itself in time/labor saved. And jobs just come clean and I'd say the only thing to mention is that don't let your tape stay on if it's gotten wet or it will leave residue. ... show more
