  • Great Value & Picture
For the price it is an amazing lens and the picture quality on manual and auto are very good. I wasn't sure if this would be a good lens size to have but at the price point I took a chance. It is 50mm with a F stop of 1.8. Lets in enough light to compensate if your flash is not that great. Takes great pictures and came well packaged. The lens did have a peel off film on the front and back, I didn't see the back one at first. Overall a nice lens at a great price. Will be looking into their other lens soon. ... show more

  • Great deal!
1st lens I've bought and first prime lens over ever used. Using it on an old rebel xs which is a crop sensor camera. Lens came very nicely packaged, no issues what so ever. Some say the autofocus is slow but since I have nothing to base it off of I find it perfectly adequate. Noise isnt any louder than the kit lens that came with the camera. Well worth the $50. I look forward to trying it at night. ... show more

  • It's cheap and works well
It's cheap and works well. But the disadvantage is that the motor sound is a little loud. And I didn't get clean clothes

  • Great for the price!
I use a canon t7. Fits, gave me no issues. Autofocus is a little off sometimes. I prefer to use manual focus with this lens. The image quality is great for a cheap lens. I am starting out in my photography business and didn’t want to invest the $130+ On the canon 50mm, so this is a great second choice. ... show more

  • The build quality is pretty cheap plastic but the lens body seems pretty sturdy
I received my YN50mm lens today. The build quality is pretty cheap plastic but the lens body seems pretty sturdy. Mounted on a NEX6 via commlite adapter, the lens fires right up. As others have stated in reviews, the autofocus system hunts quite a bit, and focus is rather slow. The lens often misses focus about half of the time, but when locked in is sharp, and pleasing. In manual focus mode is where things get interesting. Manually focusing this lens was much easier than my vintage primes despite the tiny focus ring. Video footage taken with this lens has the soft glow characterized by the large aperture. I would probably use this lens more for video than stills as there are better alternatives out there for this purpose. One thing of concern though is the significant battery drain while using this lens. With power switched off, overnight I woke up to a completely depleted battery. A quick Google search shows this is a common complaint with this lens. All in all for about half the price of the Canon 50mm this is a decent starter budget lens. ... show more

  • Good for the money
Great lens if you want the quality as the Canon but can't or don't want to spend the coin for the Canon. Autofocus is a little frustrating at times because it sometimes takes a little bit, but other times it is so great! I do like this lens and the quality of the picture is SOOOO much better than the kit lens especially for those closer shots it will save you so much more time trying to show smaller items etc. ... show more

  • Best $50 ever spent!
This is the best $50 I’ve ever spent!! The lens is awesome. The packing was awesome as well. I cannot complain about this lens. Although the auto focus is a little loud, like I read, so I was prepared for that. The auto focus works fine though. Five stars all around :)

  • Great lens overall, highly recommend
I love this lens and it's definitely my go to whenever I take close-range photos such as portraits. I'm fairly novice to photography prior to purchasing this and actually learned the basics of manual settings through this lens. I've had this for about two months now and have seen no problems thus far. I used this to actually take graduation photos. I haven't had problems with it focusing at a timely manner, but it is best when you are focusing through the viewfinder and not the display. If that still doesn't focus on your desired subject, put the lens on manual focus. Overall, especially for the price as compared to Canon's, this was such a nice addition to my kit. ... show more
