Tried it over and over. No luck. I see no spring action to actually tighten. Will fall off at slightest nudge.

Not really a tension rod, rather a telescoping pole. And the gold finish doesn't match throughout, the poles and finials are all different shades of gold. If I were to use it for a shower curtain I would definitely return but I'm using it to hang garland so the different finish won't be too obvious.
