This string of fairy lights was exactly what I was hoping it would be based on the description: long, powered by USB, and easy to control with the remote. I bought this set with the intention of using it for a specific event ("Narnia Day" at my son's school, where we used it along with some birch limbs to provide "magical" ambient light) but it's been a hit in my household because it's easy to drape around anything and fun to change with the remote. It mostly lives in our reading nook now, but it's been dragged out camping and all over the house in the last month. I sought out a USB-powered string because that gives us maximum flexibility: if we're setting them up near an outlet, I can use one of our many USB-wall chargers to power it. If not, I can use one of our power banks (that's how it worked on the camping trip). The point is that we don't have to know in advance what will make sense—for example, for the school decor, I brought a small power bank AND a wall charger because I wasn't sure where we'd be using it, and we ended up using the power bank. (Do note: this doesn't come with either a power bank/battery OR a wall charger. You'll need to have your own. This was fine by me as we have loads of both, but if you don't, make sure you plan ahead to get one.) My one and only quibble is that the power end of the string is a relatively thick black cable (see the attached picture). Given the beautiful, thin wire of the strand itself, and the fact that fairy lights are tiny and delicate, the power end stands out like a sore thumb. I wish they'd used transparent or even white plastic instead. Obviously, when it's dark, you aren't going to notice it, but for daytime "ambience" applications, or if it's in a semi-permanent location where it'll be visible day and night, you'll either need to take pains to hide the black cable or accept its limitations. (Of course, if you're putting it on something like a black bookshelf, this might be a "pro" and not a "con" for you.) ... show more

Great product, but I deducted 2 stars because after 1 day 1/2 of the lights stopped working. Working with seller now on a resolution. Will update this review once the resolution is complete. The problem was resolved promptly and adequately. The lights are gorgeous! I love them!

I have bought these lights 3 times in the last month. I was hoping that I would be able to decorate my dorm room with a little bit of nice lighting. The first two times the lights broke in a half but still worked. I thought that I would be okay. BUT NO! The lights began to malfunction and then completely stopped working. I thought that it had something to do with the wiring breaking apart. But I received a brand new pair today that as soon as I turned them on, they lit up, began to flicker, and then went dead. There was nothing wrong with the lights–no parts have broken off, no singular light had gone out...They just STOPPED WORKING! I don't recommend buying these lights AT ALL. I purchased one set of lights. Lovely! Except the remote stopped working after a few weeks. In order to not rehang the lights I ordered a second set, so I could replace the remote and eventually hang the new lights and control both... New remote lasted 8 days. I have reported the issue of two consecutively ordered failed remotes to the seller. I figured I would give them a chance. Here is the the bulk of the reply: Seller: Regarding the remote , I will give you the latest answer now. According to the customers feedback and after checking the goods , suppliers are now doing improvements with us. The plan is as follows: 1. Change the test method: we will install a battery, test a remote to prevent missed detection and misdetection. 2. Improve the surface of the remote control (button changed to a better elastic) The plan is in progress, i believe that there will be a good improvement for the remote, please continue to pay attention Please tell us if you need more info. These little lights are impressive! Every aspect of them seems well constructed of quality materials. The remote is just like the ones that come with window a.c. units so it's tiny. But that's fine. It will he stuck to the kids wall with adhesive backed Velcro. Will update if these don't last but honestly they seem like they will last just fine. Can't wait til they go on sale again so I can get more! ... show more
