I got this when it was a $30 deal and is absolutely a good value at that price. It has everything needed for a startup sewing kit; the only thing you need extra is scissors for cutting the fabric. The mannequins are pretty lightweight but are easy to put together. There’s a few different sizes of fabrics and are a lot of fun designs and colors - my 5 year old daughter loves the sparkly ones and rainbow ones. Quality of fabric is typical of what you’d find for doll clothes. The patterns are pretty simple but a kid will need an adult to help. What I like most about this is that there are ways to make dresses that don’t require sewing so that it covers more age ranges. If you’re on the fence about buying it - go for it. ... show more

This is such an amazing kit to inspire young children to create. My 7-year-old granddaughter has just been learning to sew in the last year. I think this kit is going to help with her creativity and with her sewing. There are so many items in this kit to be able to create beautiful and personally designed clothes for her dolls. It is something that you need to stay on top of keeping everything sorted and contained so you don't lose items. This complete set is full of ways to be creative. The eyes of our 10 year old granddaughter lit up when she opened it up. She's very creative and is just learning how to sew so this will be an experience she's been wanting have. She has younger sisters that would also be interested but it will have to be supervised with hands on help. It seems a bit advanced for a child under age 10 (in my opinion, but obviously depends on the child.) My daughters absolutely love this kit. They are very into fashion and love being able to create new doll dresses or outfits. This allows them to use their imagination and learn how to create a wardrobe. We purchased an extra set so they can use this during sleepovers to keep the girls busy.

I bought this for my daughter and we were both surprised and impressed with how many items come with this package. This will keep your kids busy for hours. There is some dexterity needed with stitching--so I am unsure how a 6 year old would enjoy this. My daughter is 10 and still plays with Barbie dolls.
