    • They glide over carpet!!

I bought these on the recommendation from an Ikea DIY forum for use with a Kallax metal underframe so I could a cubby system into a printer cart. They come with multiple fittings, nuts, mini wrenches, and what look to be some adapters that thread over the stem bolt - I'm assuming to use the casters in a slightly bigger hole than their initial measurements. They fit the underframe perfectly, allowing it to glide over the carpet so I can move the wireless printer wherever I need it. The brakes take a small bit of effort to engage, but I don't know that this is a bad thing as it will prevent you from accidentally locking the wheels when you don't mean to, but may have just bumped a wheel. I was also using my hand vs. my foot to engage the brake so that may have been why more effort was needed. At any rate, they are solid, easy to work with and great value. ... show more

    • Decent Casters at a Good Price - A Good Value. Recommended!

These are decent quality casters at a very good value. I bought them because of the included long threaded inserts, which are helpful for adding casters to old wood feet. I used an 11.5 mm brad point drill for the threaded inserts and an 8 mm Allen wrench to screw them in. The inserts were a tight fit, so I threaded a couple turns, then backed it off, then a couple more, then backed off, etc. like you would use a tap for threading. It made a solid, snug fit - perfect for the casters. After installing the casters, they rolled very smoothly and worked well. These aren't the most solid casters I've bought, but they were the right small size that I needed, and a good value - a low cost solution for my needs. Someone asked and then deleted the question, but the casters raise the feet 2.5 inches above their original height. Recommended! ... show more

I have a desk drawer unit that had the crappy little plastic wheels such that one set bent and another broke entirely - so i have various shims under them to level the unit. But then of course it wouldn't roll. I was ready to pitch it and buy another unit. Then I had the great idea that I should just replace those lousy casters. I found these, installed them, and absolutely love them. They are sturdy, roll well, lock well, and will likely last longer than the rest of the unit. I have installed them on a butcher block table that is the center island in the kitchen. They work perfectly. Some instructions for the drill size for the insert would have been helpful. Also the wrench that was provided to tighten the wheels into the insert was poorly manufactured and too tight. A little grinding with the Dremel tool solved that. I used these to replace the casters on my laundry basket. Once a week, the basket would be rolled from the bedroom to the laundry room. But the original casters got hair stuck in them over time and no longer rolled on the floor, more of sliding due to me pushing and pulling. So I got these since they could be taken apart. Sure enough, 8 months later the casters started sliding. I easily took them apart and unwound layers and layers of hair. After the removing the hair, they were able to spin easily again.
