View larger View largerDXS15The all-new DXS15 subwoofer delivers powerful yet focused low end reaching as low as 42Hz. The DXS’s fully optimized band-pass design combines with its powerful Class-D amplifier, long travel 15” woofer, and formidable DSP to deliver a tight, impressive bass with outstanding depth and high power output.POWER IN VERSATILITYThe DXS Series has an all-new band- pass design that produces extremely high SPL by drastically reducing the distortion. The DXS features a customized, high-power handling woofer with superior damping, for a clean, accurate delivery of the massive power produced by a 950W Class-D high-efficiency amplifier. Yamaha’s formidable DSP technologies are perfectly utilized for precise tuning of filters, flexible control of the LPF setting and low-frequency response, as well as high-grade protection functions that ensure all components perform to the full limit of their potential. Powerful D-XSUB processing allows you to choose from either NORMAL, BOOST or XTENDED LF settings. NORMAL mode gives you the ideally balanced low-frequency response, while BOOST mode provides a more tight and focused bass. • The real deal; WORTH EVERY PENNY
Baby, I'm telling you.... this is the one... sounds fantastic. The Bose F1 is almost twice the cost and half as good. I used 2 of these 15" subs (paired with two 15" DXR"s) for a 200 people outdoor event and it worked GREAT, FANTASTIC, INCREDIBLE... amazing sound and power. For smaller "stuff" I use one DXS 15" sub with the JBL EON 208P and it does amazing. The Bose F1 sub doesn't stand a chance to Yamaha's performance. I read a lot of Yamaha reviews before I decided to buy the speakers and I have no regrets spending the $$$. I'm not even thinking to try QSC or other JBL speakers for that matter... I am so sold on the Yamaha DXR and DSR... ... show more

  • Don't buy this unless you can afford to rebuild the cabinet.
There is significantly more than 5% damage. The cabinet is compromised and needs to be rebuilt/replaced.

  • Great sub woofer for home theater.
I just got it and plugged to my Yamaha RX-v675 receiver and so far it is working very well. The big detail here it is the use of some converter from unbalanced RCA to balanced XLR. While I purchased this sub-woofer through Amazon I got very good help from the people from Crutchfield from where I purchased an IMP-2 passive converter from unbalanced to balanced XLR and respective cables. Watching movies have become much more pleasant as I feel great deep bass instead of the amplified noisy I had with my previous non XLR subwoofer that was good enough for small rooms. I hope this sub will last several years else I will update this review. ... show more

  • Super Powerful, Sounds Awesome, but it's Heavy!
Outstanding sound quality, and ease of use. Very straight forward to set up and use. I enjoy it, and it has greatly enhanced my sound quality. My only drawback is that the unit is huge and very heavy - and as a mobile DJ - I dread having to move it. But, I guess to have the size and quality, the weight is justified. ... show more

  • Totally worth it.
I was strongly considering the DXS12, but after doing some homework on YouTube, lot of reviews swayed me more towards the 15. While it's heavy the side handles definitely make it much easier to manage. Strongly suggest getting one of those nice $25 collapsible wheel carts for easier movement. (Lazy DJ's unite!) First thing I noticed, it's huge! I mean... really huge. How this sub does not have it's own zip code is a mystery to me Sound: If you're looking for 20mhz frequencies that will make your internal organs re-arrange, this is not the sub you're looking for. For everything else, it matches my Yamaha DXR12's beautifully. Sounds great be it classic rock or dance. Hip hop, not so much. While taking advantage of the built in EQ, I strongly suggest you use the low frequency extend vs boost function on the speaker. It sounds a lot better on this mode. As for volume, If you're running DXR12's (1100 watts each) combined with this sub, it's incredibly powerful. The sound does not falter even at higher volumes. The engineering they invested into this is not only quality, but practical. I am beyond impressed with this set up. Hook ups: This will need 4 sets of mic cables. 2 to your satellites and 2 from your controller or mixer (Left/Right). Guitar Center had some nice 10 ft' mic cables that convert over to coax should you need that option. You will get a little bit of hum until you upgrade your gear to be on mic cables only. Overall: I couldn't be happier... though.... might consider getting a second one... :) ... show more
