The D9 Xtool scanner is probably the best bang for your buck. This scanner is very simple to use, which means less time trying to figure out the scanner and more time diagnosing the car. The wireless feature is a life saver. The mapology works flawlessly. The D9 is full of features which makes diagnosing a breeze. Xtool D9, a real sturdy contender, you can feel the quality as soon as you lift the box it's a heavy blow moulded case, the accessories are not a cheap feel either, too have some weight and defiantly would stand up to commercial garage use. I was actually surprised with the tablets size its big chunky and has an impressive screen, boot time is fast too, it's android but a customised android which to me shouts a well thought about tool, there is no Google play store but thats a good thing means no ads and bloatware, and this dosent stop you from installing your own apps via usb (for easy transfer I'm using a ravpower wireless network/usb hub, which uses it's own file manager app and works a treat with this for file transfer on the go). Mind you this tool has 128gb of memory with over 100gb free for your own use anyway so moving data is not a priority. As for support, I've only had it a couple of weeks and there has already been at least 20 updates for various vehicle makes, A few questions I've had around vehicle connections and customer support has been supurb, factoring in the time difference (I'm in UK) we are talking less than a 24 response, which in my eyes is very acceptable. In general I'm REALLY impressed so far, the topology scan feature is really useful and graph combining looks good too though I've not had to use it for any diagnosis yet thankfully, but standard diagnosis has identified issues on a couple of family vehicles that a mid range icarsoft pro scanner has not reported on. I do a little of my own mechanic work and with the Xtool it gives me the ability to save money by doing it myself rather than taking vehicle to dealership for repair.

    • Scanner functions do not work
Unable to program American ecms. On the up side it has a ton of options and functions to pick from. So many you almost can find what your looking for. On the down side almost none of the options and functions work other than diagnostic codes.

    • X Tool D9 from a hobbist aspect.
Comes in a nice case, with a bunch of leads, and connectors for a lot of applications, even though I have only used the obd2/can connector. The unit itself is a nice android tablet with a fairly bright screen. One con is in very bright sun light, it can be hard to read the screen, but that is something that happens with most screens outside. The tablet is easy to set up on your wifi, its a standard search, select, and input password setup. The X Tool application is easy to update and use. the vehicle selection is broken down into country, make, and model so that vehicles are easy to find and has auto or manual scan. Now i have only used it on three vehicles, f150, focus, and a fusion hybrid. All connected easily and ran through checks fairly quickly. The thing I really like, is that when you do get a dts, it has a magnifying glass on the leftish side that you press and it goes drectly to the code deffinition. All in all with what I have used it on it has been a very nice easy to use device. If anything changes I will update accordingly. ... show more
