  • Anchor ⚓️ up !
Style Name: 13LB
Bought as a second anchor for my 23ft boat so we can easily beach it on the sand bars !

  • Low build quality
Style Name: 13LB
I have a 28 ft boat and this anchor holds it in place very well. I like the chain and rope attachment. When I first opened the box and inspected the anchor I noticed several flaws in the metal, I am concerned it will bend under pressure. The anchor looks to be molded and does not appear like it will hold up to several years of use, however I have used it three or four times and it has not been a problem. ... show more

  • 8 lbs is a lot of anchor
Style Name: 8LB
I am reviewing: XGeek Boat Anchor Kit - Heavy-Duty Fluke and Danforth Anchor (8lb & 13lb) Complete Accessories Carbon Galvanized Steel Construction for Various Boat Sizes,Pontoon, Deck, Fishing,Kayak and Sail This is an excellent value for your small boat. We cruised the Caribbean for over 5 years and this is the type of anchor we used for our dinghy. This one is a beautiful thing. They have made it so all-in-one easy. The chain provides an extra layer of protection, and the rode is plenty for shallow in-shore waters. Perfect for a large dinghy, fishing or pontoon boat. I do not think it would be great for a kayak, maybe a large personal watercraft if there is enough space in the anchor locker. Do those things have anchor lockers? ... show more

  • Not really worth it
Style Name: 8LB
They make this an all-in-one anchor kit with the chain and rode supplied with it. The rope is not very good, and a little stretchy, 3/8" rope is too small for this anchor and will be hard to grip, damage and burn hands and make it more difficult to pull anchor, at least 1/2" line would be better. The chain length is too short, too light and small for this setup if intended for 20'-32' boats as they describe in the ad, the quality of the chain does not look great either. I use at least 15' of heavy chain on my 22' boat, and that is usually good enough to keep the anchor down, most people recommend 1' of chain length for every 1' of boat. I just use my old chain and rode setup that is heavier duty. The ones supplied may be suitable for calm shallow lakes, but not in the salt. The anchor itself looks ok, not the most beautiful, but looks like the typical budget models sold at marine stores. That being said, I think this is a bit overpriced for the anchor since the rest of it is pretty much useless. I don't anchor too often whenever I can help it, but this one will be on board for a backup or for use in somewhat questionable areas, and if it ends up getting stuck in the kelp or rocks and not retrievable, it won't be a huge loss. ... show more

  • Quality complete anchor kit
Style Name: 13LB
Anchor comes with everything you need to use it properly which is a huge plus. Not as high quality finish as some of the name brand anchors out there but the price also reflects that. So far it is working well on our 22ft Four Winns cuddy. This is definitely an upgrade to the anchor that came with the boat when we bought it and still fits in the anchor locker. No issues holding in sand and mucky lake bottom. Great value at this price point in my opinion no issues recommending to others. ... show more

  • Nice complete setup
Style Name: 8LB
I have an old 17' wooden motorboat, and, while I don't anticipate anchoring all that much, I don't want to be without an anchor if the need arises. I had to look up elsewhere which of the sizes I'd need for this boat, and I chose the 8lb model. Once it arrived, I was pretty well assured it was the right one for this boat. There are plastic caps on the tips of the anchor flukes and the "axle" (whatever that crossbar is called) which I'm sure are just there for shipping, but I'm leaving them on for now to protect the inside of my hull. This type of anchor does need some chain to help keep it on the bottom to dig in, and maybe this chain is long/heavy enough; I'm not sure yet. It's possible I'd need more weight. The rode (anchor rope) works fine for me as well. Everything was already preassembled, so this kit is ready to go! I can certainly recommend this for smaller motorboats like mine in freshwater, although the hot-dipped galvanized finish would stand up to saltwater for a good while as well. ... show more

  • Poor build quality, not even good as a ‘boat anchor’
Style Name: 8LB
I got this anchor for my boat after I discovered that a mushroom anchor is not adequate. This all-in-one kit makes it easy, and I expected the 8 lb version to be right for my 18 ft boat. About the only good things I can say about this anchor is that it is complete and it does weigh 8 lbs. But this Danforth (or fluke) anchor does not look like the anchor that is show in the photos. 1. It has a very different appearance, not different item, but different in how it looks. The photos – whether actual photos or renderings – show a very smooth and shiny finish. The anchor I received has a very poor finish with numerous blemishes [see photo] which also indicates that it was not galvanized well. 2. The construction quality is also bad. The two flukes are welded on at mismatched angles [see photo]. The welds look good but the flukes are mis-aligned and both need to auger in at the same time. This will interfere with the ability of the anchor to set properly. Fluke anchors often don’t set well to begin with, but the misalignment could prevent it from setting at all. Further, I disagree when the description says: “Corrosion-Resistant Build: Made from durable carbon galvanized steel, this anchor withstands the elements, ensuring long-lasting performance in marine environments.” The poorly applied zinc coating will scrape off easily, or at least, over time in ordinary use. Then the anchor itself will rust. This level of poor worksmanship cannot even be explained away by a budget price: I have seen vastly superior stainless steel anchor kits for just a little more. I would avoid this $80 anchor and shop for a better one. ... show more
