Features

  • MEDICAL XEROFORM PETROLATUM DRESSING: This xeroform petrolatum dressing 5x9 is made of a fine, soft, compliant mesh gauze enriched with petroleum jelly oil and 3% bismuth tribromophenate. This formula is the perfect combination of ingredients to protect the skin while promoting healing and adhering to the various contours of the body.
  • NON-ADHESIVE STICK: These gauze pads are 100% non-adhesive, which means they won't stick to the wound! Additionally, it helps to maintain a moist environment in the wound to prevent dehydration, which speeds up healing. These wounds include donor sites, lacerations, burns, abrasions and implant sites.
  • EASY TO USE: Individually wrapped sterile gauze pads help keep them clean. Each dressing fits easily against the skin to minimize discomfort. The gauze-soaked dressing is comfortable to change or remove.
  • HOW TO USE: Wash or clean the wound and gently dry the surrounding skin. Peel down the edge of the foil from the position indicated by the arrow for aseptic removal. Place or wrap the dressing into the wound. It is then secured with a secondary dressing.
  • A WELCOME ADDITION TO HOME FIRST AID KIT: Available in packs of 7(5"x9"). Each pieces has individual dressings packaged in sterile pouches. For personal use in the office, at home and on the go. Simply keep a packet in your first aid kit at home or in your car and you're ready for emergencies.

  • Never knew I needed it until I got a burn
Item Package Quantity: 7
Xeroform Petrolatum Dressing - 5"x9", Medical Non Stick Gauze Pads, Soft Fine Mesh Gauze Patch for Wound Care, Burns, Lacerations, Skin Grafts & Surgical Incisions, 7 Individual Pack is a very important addition to a first aid kit. Some background; I always have a well-stocked first aid kit and up until 4 months ago, I had never heard of Xeroform. It is a registered trademark and it always has the same ingredient 3% bismuth tribromophenate. 4 months ago I was able to order Xeroform through the Vine program - It comes in various sizes. After I ordered it I did a lot of research on when to use it and it's importance in preventing infection. Only a month later I got a second degree burn on my arm. I used the Xeroform for almost a month and saved myself a trip to the doctor. It healed amazing. The reason this is important is this product is the same just in a larger size than what I originally had. The packets are sterile. Since I am already familiar what it should look like - that it should be moist when you open the packet and this product was. It is something that you would change everyday. This is a packet of seven and it's a large size. It has a very strong medicinal scent and I put it on using gloves. It can also be cut to size. If using scissors to cut it you need to wipe it with alcohol first. Although on the packet it indicates it's a 7-Day supply and if what you're using it for is much smaller, than this product would last you a lot longer. It has a 3-year expiration date printed on the box. Now that I'm familiar with Xeroform and all its uses, it is a must for a first aid kit, besides gauze and elastic bandage wraps. Overall a great quality product. ... show more

  • Excellent product.

I am an orthopaedic surgeon and have used Xeroform dressings for decades. As a general rule, wounds heal better with moisture, and dressings like this help keep them moist without making too much of a mess. Also, they are easier to get off than a dry dressing (which tends to stick) when you have an open wound, some bleeding/oozing, or a burn. “Xeroform” gauze means that it’s a combination of a fine mesh gauze enriched with petroleum jelly and 3% bismuth tribromophenate (which is, kind of, a mild antibiotic). There are many different manufacturers of these types of dressings, and this particular product is made by JUSORE MED, which I have never heard of. Well, this product seems exactly like the products I use in the OR and office - the quality seems the same. I guess you could price shop, but these are less than $2 each for large (5”x9”) dressings, and that seems fair to me. I really hope that you don’t need dressings this large, but if you do this seems like a fine product. Realistically, you could cut these into smaller sections and make them last a long time. User tip: don’t fold this over on top of itself on a wound. Part of the benefit of using this type of dressing is it allows the wound to “breath” a little and if you fold it over it becomes more thick and less permeable. Plus, it will last you longer if you just use one layer. Also, I would not consider using this type of product as putting “antibiotics” on an infected wound. Bismuth tribromophenate is, theoretically, bacteriostatic which means it makes it difficult for bacteria to reproduce and grow, but it doesn’t kill them. This product by itself will not clear up an infected wound, but, in theory, decreases the likelihood of germs growing in and around the wound. ... show more

  • Handy
Item Package Quantity: 7
You get 7 separate pieces in this Xeroform Petrolatum Dressing kit which are 5 x 9 inch in diameter. You can cut them down to size for smaller wound care. Each of the seven sheets are individually sealed in sterile packets. The benefit of petrolatum dressings it they are flexible enough to conform to most wound situations and generally won't stick to a wound. These dressings by Jusore work well in both of these areas (conforming and nonstick). The dressings contain 3% bismuth tribromophenate which may provide some bacteriostatic assistance in reducing growth of bad bacteria in a wound. ... show more

  • Works great on my surgery wounds
Item Package Quantity: 7
I'm getting older so wounds don't heal as quickly. Xeroform helps a lot and is worth every penny. This JUSORE Xeroform Petrolatum Dressing - 5"x9" comes in packages that are 5"x2.25" so the dressing is folded up inside the individually wrapped pouches. I really like that the pouches have a flap to use to open them. Xeroform smells bad and the scent lingers for a while so I try my hardest to not touch it with bare fingers. With other brands I have simply cut the pouch to the desired size about 1-2 mm larger than my wound and used the pouch wrapping to protect my fingers. Since this product is rolled, I use disposable gloves to cut and remove the appropriate amount of dressing. There seems to be zero benefit to putting xeroform over undamaged skin so cutting the dressing to size is more cost effective. I have found that if xeroform dries out too much it can become emmeshed with new skin. I have accidently pulled off new skin while removing the dressing so now I always put a gauze pad wet with sterile wound wash directly over it with dry gauze to protect it. It could be that I should have changed it more often. ... show more

  • Great item for an emergency kit
Item Package Quantity: 7
Xeroform dressings are used in a hospital setting for dressings to help protect them and to help manage smell. The dressing is not made to be used by itself and it will need to be taped or wrapped. It's a dressing with a sticky lubricant layer on it to be placed over a wound. Then you'll need bandage to wrap around it and the wound. It should be sterile and will help protect the wound and help keep it moisturized so it can heal and will also help keep any friction from the bandage from rubbing on the wound. This is a fantastic size and quite large so hopefully you don't get hurt more than that. If it's a smaller wound. Try to use sterile or extremely clean scissors to cut it to size if you think you can keep the excess as sterile as possible for multiple replacements but in a real medical setting, this is single use but I wouldn't mind my skills to keep the excess clean to save money to do dressing replacements on the same wound. ... show more
