I was out riding yesterday, and without warning my bike tire hit a snag and down I went. The usual road rash to my right hip. But my right forearm came down on something sharp and it put a hole the size of the tip of my small finger in my arm near the elbow; and there was a great deal of bleeding. After I collected my wits, I grabbed my QuikClot clotting gauze and applied it to the wound. Within a couple of minutes the bleeding was under control. I was introduced to this product in 2020. I do a lot of outdoor activities and hunting. I've never had to use it, but know 2 people who suffered severe cuts to their legs when out in the wild and could have benefited from this product. I'm just shy of 70 and have varicose veins that are knotted. I have had 3 blow out so far. We live in an extremely rural setting, literally a 1/2 hour drive to a small city. We have to, out of necessity, keep a stocked first aid kit. It took a few to stop the first one. It is not gauze, it does not really absorb any blood it causes clotting. The first time it happened we put two on it and wrapped them in an elastic bandage before making the 1 hour trek to the hospital and my doctors office.
