This vest has become an invaluable training tool (in an arsenal of tools needed) with our newly rescued Pitbull Terrier. This sweet and loving dog is an absolute menace if not exercised and tired out daily! This vest fits the bill making the most of the time that we have to walk her- by asking her to carry some weight. Sand wasn't heavy enough for this strong 'wild child' dog- and we determined that scuba diving bee bees were our preference for weighing it down-- and they fit well in the pouches provided. She carries extra weight with ease. She loves walking with this vest on and part of her training was learning to sit and stand still (and control her over-excitement) whilst we put the vest on. She is very good about that now (as the walk is her reward). The best part of the vest is the cooling packs that easily slide in the pockets and sit flat and nicely balanced on her sides. Since this dog needs exercise every single day (no matter how hot out) the switch to the cooling packs on hot days is KEY for this black dog. The vest has definitely made her much stronger and fit, and (along with some other behavioral training tools and techniques) is part of training process that is working for her. This vest is helping make an unruly, overly energetic rescue dog- a pleasure to have around. For her part, she loves it and runs to it with a full-body wag twice a day when we say "Walk Time!!!" The media could not be loaded. I recently purchased this vest to train my female Belgian Malinois for fast cat! She’s currently ranked, and we want to keep her there and climbing in speed. Started introducing the vest today without weight for treadmill work and I’m excited to add weight and accessories for future workouts. First day we put it on our 8 month old pitty, noticed immediately he was alot easier to control. On just a collar he would attempt to pull you at all times but with the vest on he immediately became less aggressive of a puller and will walk right next to you. If he tries to pull its alot easier to pull him back. Can't wait till he's old enough to add the weight and we can beef him up a bit more. ... show more

This weight vest helped both of my dogs. It helped my obese black lab lose the weight he needed as well as gain some muscle and helped my malinois mix gain some muscle and get a good amount of energy out which if you know this breed then you know all about the endless amounts of energy!😅 This vest has worked mostly well. I got this vest about 10 months ago. I only reviewed at 4 stars because the back clip is constantly coming undone within the past month of having it which is a safety concern when working out my dogs with a weighted vest. The clips could definitely be better especially considering the cost and what the utility of the vest is. However we got 9 solid months of use out of it and thanks to it two strong healthy dogs. Just wish the clips were better so it could still be used! ... show more

I bought this weight vest for my American Bully. The vest is a bit cheaper made then I expected and I can see that it may not hold up in the long term (at least it will need repairs I'm sure) the base material seems to be durable, maybe Cordura. The stitching is where I see the most concern. Threads were already coming loose out of the box and should have had more stitching in certain places. The straps seem durable I just hope the plastic buckles hold up but I do like the design and how easy it is to put on. The weight bags do seem to be well thought out. They should work well with sand or lead shot, but I used BB's. I haven't weighed the vest but I used about 8 lbs if BB's and I estimate they will hold roughly 12lbs of lead shot. I will update this review once the vest has been through a few months testing. ... show more

This vest is one of best things thats happened for our male Dobe. He's just about 2 years of age and of course has an endless supply of energy. We take him for walks and runs in it and it keeps him better controlled and exhausts him much easier. Putting it on in the house with company keeps his energy better controlled and when he Is on walks with it there isn't as much of a concern from other pedestrians seeing our Dobe in a working vest. The fit is beautiful (it looks awesome I might add), it doesn't rub him uncomfortably like some other vests might, the straps come up plenty far enough to keep his valuables safe and sound lol. He can run comfortably in it which many other vests cannot do at all. I love that you can add and take away the weight and I usually end up placing my phone in the middle pockets for him to carry for me on runs/walks. Tank enjoys it so much now as soon as he sees the thing he knows its exercise time and immediately sits to have it placed around him. The concern others state about it not being too breathable is kind of a given considering its a weighted working vest that you fill with sand at your own discretion. As long as its taken off immediately following an exercise theres not a problem. You could even place some small freezer packs in the middle pockets on longer runs if a concern to keep them cool. I would recommend this item to all breeds, but especially the working/high energy.
