  • Buy it.
Like most, I originally saw this controller and thought that while it looked great and had great features, the $150 price tag was just too much. I can say now that after using it for months I was wrong. This is hands down the best controller I have ever owned. I have played video games since I was a child and have owned almost every system that has been released. I have seen controllers evolve from a pad with a joy stick and two buttons all the way to this masterpiece. The Xbox One controller is already a great controller but the Elite takes it to the next level with its velvet feeling analogue sticks, trigger adjustment switches, back paddles, smooth finish, and the many customizable profile features which are very easy to edit and swap and will persist as active even when connected to the PC. This is a solid, premium feeling controller that is worth the cost even for standard gaming, but will definitely increase your control and ability within many games. It is ideal for shooters as well as flight games like Elite Dangerous where the controls are complex and you feel like you would use a few extra fingers lol. All in all an outstanding product that I would (and do) urge others to buy. I was going to make a pros and cons list but honestly its already in the features. Every feature is a pro and I honestly have yet to have any problem with it. Buy it now and thank me later. Edit 2/22/17: After using this controller heavily on the PC and Xbox One I finally encountered a failure. While it has experience some general use wearing like buttons becoming slightly softer and the sticks loosening a bit it wasn't until this morning that something actually broke. The right bumper snapped from the thin plastic that holds it in place and is responsible for it rebounding after being pressed. Being well out of warranty and no real options I am purchasing the parts from amazon to fix myself. Cons: Bumpers will break with heavy use. Two most common examples are bumper jumpers on Halo and, as in my case, RB being the main attack button in For Honor. Still the best controller I've owned. ... show more

  • Best controller ever made for PC gamers, bar none
The best way to play video games from your couch these days: plug a modern-day PC running Steam's Big Picture Mode, hooked up to a Xbox One Elite Wireless Controller (preferably with a Steam Controller as a backup to play 4x games on your TV, which is way fun), into your TV's HDMI In port and enjoy. Why Steam? Because it enables you to play literally anything, with utter scoffing disregard for the required specs (as well as support for upcoming tech like the Oculus Rift) - everything from Rocket League to Battlefield to Far Cry to Niddhogg to God only knows what else is ready and waiting for you to play it. And the only way to play all that stuff is on an Elite Controller - simply put, the best controller $150 can buy. Wait, $150? Good LORD that's a lot of money; you could probably get a 3DS off Craigslist for that kind of money or something. It's a no-bones-about-it indulgence, true (particularly since it's only natively wireless with the Xbox; using it wirelessly on the PC requires purchasing an additional hardware dongle); it's just that you really do feel the difference as soon as you pick it up for the first time. It's perfectly weighted, the matte finish feels like a dream in the hand, and the buttons have precisely the travel you want from a button. The thumbsticks are gloriously tactile and easily tweakable; I went with stubby on the left stick and tall on the right (give it a shot). The triggers are legitimately flawless; now that they allow for finely-tuned actions (which you can further adjust in the controller's app) you can make them work just the way you want. And, in the spirit of saving the best for last, the d-pads are...well, as a staunch d-pad chauvinist who has STRONG OPINIONS on this cosmically pointless subject, I can safely say that the one on the Elite controller (the regular cross-shaped one, not the bizarre disc-shaped one I swapped out instantly) is one of the very best d-pads on a gaming doohickey to come down the pipe since the GBA micro, aka The Actual Best D-Pad Yes These Initial Caps Are Being Used For Emphasis. if you like retro games, it's worth the price of admission alone, particularly when coupled with those fantastic buttons. and that's not even getting into the paddles, which should make things like reloading or knifing a thousand times easier once you get everything set up. anyway: the tl;dr is that if you're a Windows gamer and feel like playing on the most luxurious controller ever offered to the buying public, take a deep breath and snap one of these up next time you've got some money which deserves to be spent on buying yourself something nice. Every time you pick this controller up, you'll instantly be reminded that you did just that. A++++ would recommend 10/10 and so on. ... show more
