I think it is ok for trips too and from the vet. Smaller than you think. No room for a blanket in these winter months with my 9 pound cat. The plastic shoulder strap clips make me nervous they may not hold up. The floor board is a tad longer than the carrier so doesn't fit quite right, but was still able to get it zipped.
