This system (base station plus 3 detectors) is everything I could want in a fire detection system. The setup was incredibly easy: the mobile app found the base station with no fuss and pairing the detectors was simple as pie. We've had no false alarms since installing, everything just seems to work. And now we can travel (which we do quite often) and remain aware if we were to have a fire at the house. LOVE IT! We put detectors at both ends of the house and one in the middle. I'd advise anyone considering this system to think through the number of detectors. I wish now that I bought 5 detectors and put two in the attic. If you don't know, a lot of fires start in the attic and will burn quite a while before moving into the home and setting off your in-home detectors. It's fairly cheap to buy the larger system up front compared to adding components after. With the base station and centralized alerting, you'll have all the advantages of being fully alerted as soon as a fire starts anywhere. Our 5 new x-sense smoke detectors link together via wireless with a strong signal thru several walls and floors and to the web thru WIFI. I wanted this because the house is rather large with a garage. If a fire were to start in the garage at night we might not hear the old stand-alone alarm. The X-sense alarms all 5 detectors, waking up any one in the house before the fire would have time to grow. It also alarms to smart phones, which is handy in case you are not home. In addition, x-sense offers water leak detectors and room temperature/relative humidity sensors. These can all be monitored using the same app along with the smoke detectors - up to a total of 10 sensors. So, any time there is smoke, a water leak or temperatures dangerously low or high, an alarm appears on my smart phone - a good feature for times we are away. The app is very easy and quick to use. There was no fee to set up the account. If you have natural gas or oil or propane, it would be wise to get the smoke/carbon monoxide combination detectors. ... show more

Transitioned a bunch of First Alert smoke detectors that were hardwired with 9v Battery Backup. To cover the electrical box because they are so tiny, I ended up adapting these tiny devices by using a blank wall plate. I aligned one hole where the screw goes through the plate into the electrical box and then drilled through the plate and pop-riveted the detector mounting plate onto it, as shown in the attached picture. Not too fond of it being off center, but that seemed like the simplest way and who really looks at stuff on the ceiling. The app support has been great for the weeks since I installed everything this and adding devices was super easy. It's really nice to be able to silence an alarm from the app. I will be super impressed if the batteries actually last 10 years, but even if they only last 5, that is still way better than typical 9v battery life. I purchased 10 of these along with a combo CO/smoke detector, standalone plug-in CO detector and my favorite X-Sense device... Their mailbox sensor 🙂 ... show more

I bought this CO2 along with the Smoke Alarm system to set up as a bundle in our home. It was probably the easiest thing to set up I have ever experienced. The hub found all units, tested everything and so far everything is working great. I plan to buy this for my in-laws and monitor it for them.

I really like these! The detectors and base station come with a very well written instruction book, so installation was easy. The app is very well designed; it even tells you how much battery life each detector has. Mine came with five detectors, but you can buy individual ones and add them to your network quickly and easily. We can monitor the devices when we are not at home, so our dogs will be safe should the unthinkable happen. With a spate of house fires around us recently, this was a great purchase. ... show more

Ok, I normally wouldn't give a product like this one star but here's why. The product itself was simple to connect to the wifi and deploy. The issue begins when you go, "hey, I could use 1 or 2 more smoke alarms". So, you go online, search for the brand and model number of the hub and you see dozens of selections. Now this could be Amazons fault or the way the seller has the items posted. But though Amazon is famous for flooding your search queues with in correct products, I'm scrolling through and pick what I thought was the right item. It arrives. Doesn't take long to go, oops, wrong item, it's not compatable with my system, though it looks like what I already have. Except one letter after the model number. Send it back. Search again, find the WiFi smoke alarms, BINGO, that's what I need. Nope, it arrives, tried to activate it, doesn't work. Can't even scan the QR code. Look at the FINE PRINT on the box, it's only like a stand alone device it appears but it's not for my system, so, strike 2. And the price just keeps going up so I'm done. Not buying another X-Sense product as I'm not seeing anything that says "This will only work with the FS51 system". I'll just be happy the ones I got work. And for what it's worth, they do have a great range. I put on in a wooden shed, that's lined with that layered mylar/silver reflective coverings, and it's about 100ft away from the router and works great (testing). ... show more
