    • DIY nightmare but the result is attractive

Big thanks to the reviewer who mentioned the sixty-odd crystals that have to be attached one by one by one by one by... you get the picture. That alone took something close to an hour and requires a LOT of manual dexterity. It's not an easy assembly if you have any kind of vision or hand issues. Even with full faculties, it was still a chore and a half. Anyway - if I hadn't been forewarned about that part, I would have been extra annoyed, and calling the assembly "easy" is just false on its face. Once that part was handled, installation was fast and easy. Standard all the way around, no surprises - and you wouldn't expect surprises, but I have had some nasty ones with light fixtures from this platform - ie direct to consumer imported fixtures. Every one of those import fixtures has come with gloves. I have no idea why, but it's not unique to chandeliers with (plastic) crystals versus plain old hanging lights made out of metal and shades and such. We've got a stack of the things if anybody needs them, having installed something like eight fixtures in the last few weeks. Once you've made your fingers bleed assembling it and then gotten it installed, it's very pretty - not too stuffy, but not too terribly modern, either. I wouldn't have minded some extra chain, as it's maybe six inches higher than I'd like it to be (12 foot ceilings), but for more standard applications it will work fine. For the amount of labor involved, I think the price ($105 at time of review) is pushing it a bit, but not ridiculously so. At the end of the day, with the assembly and installation behind me, I'm pleased with the final result. If you have the attention span and physical ability to complete the assembly (or piles of cash you're looking to burn paying electrician rates for an extra hour of fiddling with the plastic dangles), I have no problem recommending this chandelier. ... show more

I needed to update my old chandelier and this one is beautiful. The crystals reflect rainbows of color around the room and is perfect in my dining room. It is bright and beautiful. Easy to install when replacing another fixture. Not too heavy and doesn't feel cheap.

I'm very happy with this chandelier, the color is beautiful and all the glass is even more beautiful. It's pretty big as I was expecting, it's fairly heavy but not overly. Installation is fairly simple and easy, now when it comes to installing each strand of glass, its a bit tedious, took me a while to figure out the instructions but once I figured it out its pretty straightforward, but it's a bit tedious and time consuming but not too bad.     • Cheap ugly plastic

I was excited to order this chandelier as it look good on the photos and had very good reviews. Interestingly, some reviewers praised the appearance of "crystal" pendants. I wonder whether they installed it at all given the necessary effort and that it is obviously not crystal, but very cheap plastic. When I opened the box, the first thing to remove from the top was the large and somewhat heavy metal frame. I was stuck how cheap and ugly it looked. Still, that is matter of taste and preference. I examined it a bit and wondered if I can cut some parts off and possibly repaint it to make it lighter and better looking. Next, I picked up one of the bags with pendants. It was so light that I immediately realized that they are made of plastic. I don't know how was it possible that none of the reviewers noticed and mentioned that. Retailer describes the chandelier as being "crystal." At this price point, I did not expect actual crystal, but I did expect glass. When I opened the bag, pendants were obviously made of plastic. They are very light. Glass is about twice as heavy as polyacrylate so one cannot mistake one for the other. Pendants were also warm to touch. Glass is cold. Edges were soft and smooth. Edges on glass are always a bit sharp even if they have been polished. Finally, when you lightly hit glass with some metal object (coin, or a screwdriver in this case), you hear a melodic "ding" sound that lasts for a while. Plastic makes dull "tock" sound. I hit one of these pendants pretty hard several times and all I got were dull "tock" sounds. Finally, they do not reflect and refract light the way glass does. They are just cheap dull looking in the light. Overall, this is deceptive on the part of retailer to sell this item as crystal, and it is not worth anyone's time to install it. Keep in mind that it takes very long time to assemble and install it. Even though this is a Vine item, I am returning it. While technically "free," I would still have to pay tax on it, So, I am sending it back as I don't want to pay tax on $105 item. ... show more

    • Pretty but heavy

It is very pretty but heavy and doesnt go in just any room. Originally got this for the kitchen dining area. Then decided on the guest bedroom. It is pretty but it doesnt quite fit into either space. The weight of it is concerning since it is hanging from the ceiling by 2 screws.
