Description

The 17" Wuhan medium weight crash has power, clarity and sustain. These characteristics give it the versatility to be the "big cymbal" in a small setup or the "smaller cymbal" among a group of larger, louder models. Each Wuhan crash cymbal is cast from high quality B20 alloy then carefully hand hammered and lathed before receiving a striking brilliant finish. At these prices, most cymbals are made from cheap sheet material, but the Wuhan Traditional crash cymbals are cast from the same B20 alloy used in many of today's high end cymbals. You will not find better quality or nicer sounding cymbals at this price level.

  • Inconsistent quality and sound
I received the cymbal and was excited to try out, since a friend has one and it's great. The first thing I noticed was it was really really thin. Hmm. I set it on the stand and hit it with a drum stick. My reaction? O_o Unfortunately the one I got sounded awful. Trashy, more like a China cymbal but shaped like a regular cymbal. Very much not what I was looking for. I can only conclude that they're very inconsistent in quality (the Wuhan my friend has really does sound great). I sent it back and went with something I knew would be more repeatable. Your mileage may vary. ... show more

  • OK
This was great after I hand-hammered it more to get the sound I was after. Too loud and trebly and too much sustain as original.

  • Impressively Bad
This one's a real steamer. Sounds like a loud gong, has maybe about half the metal of the B8 it was intended to replace. Making me fall in love with my Sabian B8s all over again, Wuhan! That's quite a trick. That being said, Wuhan makes some great cymbals - their chinas are the world standard and their splashes are great. I always say their 12" splash is the best crash they make. This cymbal, sadly, is not. ... show more

  • Lower end B20 brass
This is not a 'b' or x, y, z, type B8 brass cymbal. This is actually a B20 cymbal, like Zildjian A or Sabian AA or HH. Sound quality is in between a B8 & B20. Not all that bad. A real bargain for a B20 cymbal. Good for starter or mixing with other cymbals. Loud & durable. I would recommend it.
