We were replacing Grey blackout curtains that had a white rubbery back on them. These curtains do NOT have any white rubbery back on them. In fact, one must really look to determine which is the front and which is the back. The fabric is very thick and very soft. Although these are not complete total blackout, these curtains block MUCH more light than the grey ones we replaced. I am very happy with the amount of sun that is blocked. It is NOT the same as putting foil on the window, but it is enough to look like evening with the sun full on the curtain! Then there is the size choices!! This was one of the few that offered the shorter 45" length. This was prefect for our windows putting the hem just a few inches below the window frame. The grey curtains I replaced were much longer (63") Yet these new curtains still do a much better job blocking the sun than the grey ones ever did. Top all that with the fantastic price I found here and thus this review. We covered two windows with these. My only concern is how well they will hold up with time - that SW sun can be brutal. If they fall apart, or fade to white, I will come back here and downgrade my review, but so far - Very Happy ... show more

Does not have complete blackout as stated. I don't know why people are writing that in the reviews. The blue is very pretty but the light goes right through. Granted it's muted but still not as advertised.

I wanted blackout drapes and that’s what these do, at least the black colored drapes do. I knew they were promising when I tried shining my iPhone light through one and it barely made it through. Of course they can’t stop the light coming in from around them but that’s with any drape. You can see the pics I just took while I’m still in bed. :D They are thin but still provide some extra insulation. I haven’t had drapes in this room for years and the room wwas a bit cooler than the rest of the house. I’ve noticed that’s not the case since I put these up, so they’re doing something to keep in warmth vs just having drop shades. ... show more

These are high quality curtains with a white back. They are very effective at keeping the cold from the window glass out. They are solids with no sheerness. They hang beautifully and have an elegant feel. I highly recommend. The window they are in faces a large field, I live in Maine, and the wind can be brutal. Great curtains but they were not the color I was expecting. They are teal. I included a photo of my bedspread for reference. I was aiming a little closer.
