Spring has arrived and we were finally able to assemble this little playhouse hut for our grandkids. It definitely took a lot longer to assemble than what I thought it was going to. Luckily the assembly went without any mishaps. All material and hardware is supplied along with easy to follow directions (I’m sure a man wrote the directions because it’s mainly big large pictures 😉). It is just made out of pine wood, so do be careful to not over tighten or the softer wood will split. All the boards are stamped with numbers for assembly, and each pack of hardware is numbered. Like I said, super easy directions to follow. All of the boards, planks, and spindles are a smoothed wood that is already painted. The hardware is heavy duty and will withstand the test of time. It being pine wood, it will only last for so long, but the kids will be well grown before it gives. In the words of my husband, 5,000 screws and 3 hours later the project is complete, and the kids love it. ... show more

While this is a great-looking and well-made playhouse, it is certainly not a simple assembly job. We've come to realize that that much of the actual cost of such a kit is in your own labor. You are actually just buying a do-it-yourself parts/playhouse kit. It will be way too difficult for some and will require some qualified help. Building this felt like framing out a house or a shed from the ground up. The first thing we thought when we unboxed (see picture) was "what have we gotten ourselves into" - the kit consists of many pieces of cut and stained wood and bags and bags containing hundreds of pieces of hardware. We would recommend setting aside a half a day to build this. You will need tools to finish this project and they are not included. The tools required were: square drive drill bit hex shank drill bit driver / drill hex socket set Building this requires framing out sections, so other tools we used in order to get it to look well made (i.e. square, level, even spaces between things like the slats on the doors ,etc.) drywall square measuring tape hammer level wood glue (one of the pieces at the top of the roof split and we had to repair) Instructions are generally clear, however there are a few minor oddities or inconsistencies that were pretty easy to work through, for instance the hardware comes with handles for the doors but there aren't any instructions - easy solve. Also, you put the roof on and screw it in before putting the lateral wood in place, which doesn't make sense because then you can't square the top of the structure with the roof on. There is a generous amount of fasteners, and we had quite a bit left over after building. After completion, the finished product looks good. It is very over-engineered and quite solid once completed. The playhouse is tall (around 5 ft at the top of the roof) and is big enough for 4 kids to play comfortably at once. It is light for its size, which makes it easy for 2 adults to pick up and move around. The cedar smells great and you can smell it immediately when walking down to the basement. The only negatives we noted are some of the coloration of the wood is off, and some of the wood is sticky. It appears that it might be very fresh cedar that still has some sap on it (see pictures), and when you're assembling your hands get dirty from touching the wood. The sand section doesn't have a cover, which we would want for outdoors use and it doesn't have a liner or drainage either. We also outfitted ours with lights to enhance playtime. Overall a solid playhouse that the kids are enjoying, and it ended up being a learning experience for them as well in both tools and construction as we worked with them to build it together. ... show more

Oh the pieces! SO MANY PIECES! the instructions were pretty straight forward however you will need your own tools to build. I like that this play set has a little bit of everything. If play set is being kept indoor I would say this item is sturdy enough to last forever. I do slightly worry about the unpredictable Missouri weather warping over the wood. I am hopeful that I will be proven wrong. If you live in an area with mild weather and or a way to cover the item - I recommend ... show more

    • Good fun and learning activity for kids.
We ordered this for our kids 4,6 and 8. They love it. It has a lot of nice features for the kids to play with. We filled up the sandbox with sand, and the kids are thrilled with it. The tic tac toe is a great design and moves freely so the kids can play with it. Assembling the item was relatively straightforward. It took around 2.5 hours for both my husband and me to complete. Our 8-year-old also joined in, adding an extra layer of excitement. The wood quality is impressive, and the colors are truly delightful. The door opens and closes smoothly, and the kids greatly enjoy using the bench within the playhouse. We are extremely pleased with this purchase. ... show more
