  • Great fit and finish and great for drawing lines for ripping. Looks nice in Red!
Color: Red
I’ve already got a collection of squares, with my favorite being the traditional combination square, but I was intrigued by the unique functionality of this one. Where combination squares often come up short is when you need to draw a line on one side of dimensional lumber and then carry that line across to the vertical side. If you’re moving quickly and flipping boards around, it’s easy to lose track of your line.. if you mix up your cut side, especially when making miter cuts. I figured a 90-degree square like this would be helpful and seeing it in that eye-catching red anodized color sealed the deal for me. It definitely channels those high-end brands (you know, the one ending with “peckers”), and while blue is popular too, I had to go for the red. When it arrived, I was surprised to find it disassembled. The packaging was neat, and although there were no instructions, it was obvious how to put everything together. The kit included the main parts, an Allen wrench, two screws, and a curious piece of red thread. Like some other reviewers, I wondered if this thread was supposed to fix machining errors somehow, but thankfully, the square was beautifully made. It assembled snugly, and everything aligned perfectly. If you have some Loctite on hand, I’d recommend using it if you don’t plan on disassembling it anytime soon. Once assembled, it felt great in my hand. The machining was clean, with no burrs or rough spots. While it might not be as perfect as pricier models, the tolerances are solid enough for everyday woodworking and carpentry. The standout feature for me was the line-drawing capability. Instead of a built-in pencil holder, there’s a line of holes that act as a guide for a pencil lead, making it easy to draw long, straight lines on lumber. It fits a standard 0.7mm mechanical pencil OK, allowing for precise-enough marks (allot better than the usual tape measure and thumb!). Overall, this square is a fine buy, especially compared to more expensive ones.. if you don't need the best. The lettering is well done, with a durable finish that looks like a mix of anodizing and epoxy. It’s not laser-etched, but the markings are clear and error-free. Once tightened with the provided Allen wrench, there’s no play at all. There’s also a sliding pin for angle marking, which seems precise, though I probably won’t use it much. If you’re looking for a 90-degree or so-called 3D square, this one is a fantastic choice. My only minor gripe(s) is the lack of metric markings, and inability on the one side to reach the full breadth of a 2x4 (max seems to be 3 1/4") Five stars from me—this is a solid addition to any toolbox! ... show more

  • Very accurate
Color: Red
Very accurate square. Lightweight and fits well into a small toolbox. Pencil scribing holes tested perfect for accuracy. Only reason for 4 Stars, product could have come with a modest instruction sheet. As some other reviewers have said, I haven' figured out what the pin is used for. I'm sure that it has a use but as yet I haven't figured out exactly what it is. Would be nice for an instruction page. Still a great buy even without using the pin. ... show more

  • Small & Versatile
Color: Red
I like the color & it's lightweight, not too bulky & very portable. It makes it easier to find in my shop. This tool has so many functions, that I'd end up writing a book to list them all & the manufacture does not provide a handy instruction manual. My primary uses are making straight & matching lines on multiple wood projects. All of the scribe lines are true to the marked measurements. ... show more

  • Great Protractor for Woodworking
Color: Blue
This is a high quality square ruler/protractor which comes in two pieces - (1 triangle shape that you can use kind of like a traditional woodworking square tool; and 1 L shaped piece which you can connect via the screws it comes with - to draw your protractor angles). The blue is a very nice color - I highly recommend the blue color! Personally I love that the triangle piece has the holes to measure drill sizes. For me... my drill set has gotten scrambled around so I am often guessing sizes - but I was able to reorganize my drill set using those measurement holes. The only call out is that this does not come with instructions - so I will share some instructions here: 1. You can slide the L piece into the vertical line of the triangle (you'll see a little grove you can slide it up). Use the 2 screws it comes with to screw it in. 2. There is a little pin - you put it into the angle measurement you want (i.e. 75, 67.5, 60, 45, 30, etc.) and put it against the wood you are cutting/drawing on - draw the line where the pin hits the wood - that's the angle. Goodluck! ... show more

  • Decent saddle square for line wrapping.
Color: Black
I got this for accurate marking of lines around a square edge. This will be my only use for it. It appears to be as accurate as my other squares and the holes for marking lines accept a 0.7mm pencil. I find the black one with white writing printing easy to read.
