It's ginormous (!!) and very sturdy but hard to carry around. I use protractors for drawing, but this isn't something I can toss in my pencil case, and it's a bit too heavy duty for drawing on certain papers. It seems like it's more so made for construction material like wood. The pencil holder is small and not very adjustable, so none of my prefereed pens fit in it. I'm pretty sure TSA would take it because the pointy edges too, so don't try taking it on a plane! It isnt great for me. But it's a great buy if you're a professional, or otherwise need a heavy duty compass tool or a home defense weapon. Lol! ... show more

    • A Big Solid Drawing Compass
Size: 12 Inch
I had a couple of smaller compasses for drawing arcs/circle but they were too small and didn't have any way to fix the opening size so it wouldn't slip to a larger/smaller radius. This compass worked great for drawing arc/circles on foam core and fabric, which is the use I had planned. About the only thing I could comment on is that the know used for tightening down on the size so it won't slip takes a moderately large amount of force to turn. But that's very minor. ... show more

    • Bad thread on locking screw hole

The compass is a suitable design but the threaded hole for the locking screw is not clean and the screw will not thread in more than 3 turns. Pretty useless if you can’t lock it in position.
