After doing some research I figured I wanted to use better materials for upgrading my house. It's a bit older house so the floors are creaky in some spots and the insulation in general could use an upgrade. Other reviews and the details on underlayment products seem to cover my expectations for how Sunco's version (Steico Brand?) should perform against plastic/foam underlayment products (wood underlayment appears vastly better), but I did see some complaints about the condition it arrived in. The box was very durable and put together well, and it seems the 3 packs (I ordered 270 square feet, which is packaged into three 90 square foot packs) arrived in perfect condition. It seems like Sunco has put a lot of thought into shipping their product well. Install was easy, and I'm noticing a significant improvement between the older floors and the newly intalled sections. The sound reduction and feel are better, but I haven't finished everything quite yet. I'll have an update on the completed project soon ... show more

    • GREAT underlayment for LVP.

Some reviews say not to use this for LVP (or LVT) but this stuff was fantastic for our finishing over the garage space. Builder did not insulate the garage ceiling as it was "just attic space" so we needed a better underlayment to help combat the lack of floor insulation. This stuff goes down EASY. We did buy underlayment tape, but it did not stick to this, maybe duct tape would have but it is too thick, so we ended up just laying it with no taping. It's easy to cut, and FIRM on the wood/plywood subfloor (it actually added to the firmness for the LVP). Helps greatly with air/heat containment and the floor (only 3mm thick stuff) feels like it's much thicker - it was like upgrading the LVP to 8mm stuff! Super-smooth laying the LVP on top & floor feels amazing & looks like a pro did it (not us DIY-ers!). TIP: use gloves! This stuff is 'wood fiber' and without gloves you'll have tiny little wood fibers ( we had to shake out clothing & wash it twice after using, so we learned quick to be 'careful' while handling it!). ... show more

These worked out perfect as underlayment for our kitchen re-model with laminate flooring. We doubled up and now it feels so much "softer" and is more quiet, than the rest of the house which has a triple layer of that foamy underlayment. Two of these made a smooth transition from the living room. I like the idea of non-toxicity and it was easy to work with, as long as you tape the first layer together along the seams.
