The application process is exactly as seen on online videos. I think the only purpose of the spray is to make it peel off in one shot. It worked. The stained color looks very inky. If the stain lasts then I will be very pleased. Be careful not to have dry skin or it will high light those areas and make sure the application is on your lip or else it will look like you just ate a popsicle. I'm not sure if it will become my go-to yet. I'm still experimenting with how long it lasts and how it fades and wears off. ... show more

I didn't love this product, I still don't because I feel like it took me a long time to put on & it was messy. I imagine i'll get the hang of it eventually so I'm not taking off any stars for my own learning curve with the product. I will say I was disappointed to see the product NOT stay on my lip line, it sort of...leaked onto the fine lines around my lips. I was able to use makeup remover & a q-tip but it was annoying. Also the directions say to use 1-2 sprays of the mist stuff but I needed more like 3-4. You have to mess with the formula to find out what works for you, I think. For me I liked doing one layer & letting it dry out then adding another layer to any spots that were missed & letting THAT dry out a bit. Then using 3-4 sprays on my lips usually made 80% of the blue mask come off. A little buffing with the included brush, q-tip for removing any that spread outside my lipline & I'm good to go. I repeated the above process twice because I wanted a REALLY saturated lip & since then I've just been putting a clear lip balm on top & the color is STILL THERE more than 12 hours later through dinner, drinks & showering/brushing my teeth twice.     • Colors don’t exactly match the picture and there’s not enough spray.

I ordered two different colors of this. They don’t match the swatches in the pictures but I have found I can leave it on for a shorter amount of time or I can put one on top of the other and get a good color. It lasts for a decent amount of time and looks good with a gloss or some simple chapstick over top. My biggest complaint is about the activator spray. There was no straw inside either bottle so I had to spray it upside down to get any out. When I opened one of the bottles, the top of it was cracked and broke off where the lid screws on. Both bottles were half empty when I receive them and I’m already completely out of both of them and both lip tubes are still full. I haven’t even used them very much and now I have no activator spray to use with them. I can’t justify spending 30 dollars on this product to begin with and I certainly can’t justify buying it again just for the spray. ... show more

There are a few steps but it's not too difficult but the flavor is a bit strong and it faded off immediately during eating or drinking. I used it a couple of times to test letting it sit longer or using more/less setting spray or trying a different top coat. It just doesn't last on me.

I purchased the color Hayley. Lo and behold, it is THE PERFECT COLOR. It is THE color I perpetually look for when trying new lip products, but seldom actually find. And here it is. I immediately bought another one in the same shade after trying it. It's a lovely bright, fresh red/terra cotta that is just the most flattering thing on my lips. Most lip colors, no matter what they look like in the tube, end up looking hot pink on me for reasons I've never understood. This one does turn more pink as it wears off, but it's still a nice color. And it lasts for hours. The downside - it is very easy for it to come out patchy when applied. But I love the color so much, I've decided not to care. I just take great care when applying to TRY to apply it as evenly as possible. I ordered just the stain and not the kit. I use a dampened Makeup Eraser to wipe it off about 40 seconds after applying. I also give my top lip another 20 seconds, because I apply to the bottom one first and it always seems to come out more saturated. I exfoliate my lips with a face brush first, and put clear balm on top for moisture. I'll keep buying Hayley for as long as they keep making it. ... show more

I just got the lip stain masque Romance shade. I wasn’t sure what the color would look like. There weren’t many views addressing the shades. I have olive color skin and don’t wear a lot of color on my lips. I prefer a more natural look. Romance works great for me. There is just enough “pink” so my lips pop without being obvious there is color added. I do wear chap stick over it to give it a more moisturized look. I’ve used it twice. The color lasted for several hours. I would probably restain after 6 hours. ... show more

Review of color "xoxo" Pros: mostly does what it says it does. Deposits color that doesn't wipe off. Photos show after 8 hours, drinking water all day and eating a meal, still has some color evident. I like that even tho it does fade, it does so evenly, and doesn't leave a ring of color only on the edges, like most lip color will do. Cons: the blue masque does not go evenly as they show in advertisements. It goes on very streaky and takes heavy application to get an even distribution, which the directions say is mandatory to get even color deposit. Masque also does not remove as easily as the videos show. For some reason, my lips were numb for several minutes after masque removal, not sure why. I notice that the color deposits more readily on the seam of my lips, and not as solidly on the margins, not sure why. ... show more
