I used it for a Lydia cosplay and it was perfect! But it's actually very well made and comfortable so I wore it again for a "goths at the beach" theme party and it was perfect for keeping the sun out of my eyes. I'm sure I'm going to wear it a lot more, especially in the summer months.

Most interesting to me: the material label on the hat says "100% paper"... though the listing stated the material to be "straw"... I read a lot of reviews complaining about the creases from the hat being shipped folded.. the steam setting on my iron did the trick. What's more, the outer circumference of the brim has a metal wire which can be easily flattened or shaped however you like. I bought this for a Halloween costume so, I wasn't in need of anything too fanciful. My head, I've learned, is on the larger side, based on the fact that most hats are too small for my dome (gotta fit the big brains). I was definitely reluctant to buy this due to all of the complaints with creasing from packaging, few reviews that actually showed the product on, and head size sorry (lol) I found using my steamer helped get the creases out entirely. I know an iron on top of a towel and the hat would work too! Now; Hats this size and shape (bigger brim) are so hard to come by at THIS price. I absolutely appreciate the wire band on the ridge. You can style it as you please and I believe that’s such a huge plus. The brim is wide enough to definitely cover my face and shoulders. It comes with a white strap to keep it in place on windy days, I’m assuming. I found wearing it under the chin was very uncomfortable, BUT when I had it tucked in on the back of my head and held in place with my hair, it was very comfortable and stayed put. (Hat on, band behind the ears and below the nape of the neck) I have long hair so I’m not sure how it would work with someone who has a short cut bob or fade on the back of their head. I do feel the hat is meant to be worn this way. (Like how you would put a wig with an elastic band) I’m a size medium in a women’s baseball cap but this was the perfect size. Now the downfalls to this product would be creasing from packaging and some loose threads here and there- it’s the ends of a finished stitching. Personally, I’m going to sew in the loose ends. This hat featured a wire in the rim and a strap to hold it on your head an I am presuming the wire helps keeps the rim's shape. Sadly the hat is EXTREMELY misinformed due to the packaging. It was folded multiple times which not only resulted in creases on the flaps on the hat but made the crown of the hat collapsed inwards. The pictures provided are after it has been sitting on a mannequin head for a couple of days, as you can see the hat is still very disheveled. If anyone has tips on how to fit it let me know. I am going to try to fix it and if I cant I will return it. ... show more

I immediately returned this item after receiving it and realizing that a hat designed for pool/ beach use could not get wet because it's made of paper. Super stiff and scratchy. Do not recommend.

I did not have high expectations for a very inexpensive hat made of paper, but this sure did floor me! The weaving is firm and surprisingly heavy, to where I never would have guessed it was paper. The rim has wire incorporated all the way around and it holds a shape remarkably well. The brim is HUGE -- dramatic and lovely. For the $12 I paid, I couldn't be happier. I will note that the hat is creased from how it was packed in shipping, but that doesn't bother me. For this price, it's hard to complain. I would have bought a more expensive hat if I was looking for something flawless. ... show more
