    • Leak free - Several great features - Worked Really Well!
I purchased this extractor/pump in order to replace my transmission fluid in my car. As usual, when you research something on AMAZON you see such a mixed bag. For the extractor/pumps it showed lots of variation of folks super happy and those with huge complaints. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised that this product worked GREAT. First, the basics. Out of the box there were no leaks when you pressurize the pump. I've purchased a brake flush pump from one of the "top brands" and it leaked when new. I was very happy when I pumped this up and sprayed it with some soapy water to see zero leaks. Now, in the website picture, it shows this large black wrench that I assume is supposed to be used to torque the fill cap? What I received did NOT include this wrench. There was some mystery metal wrench that fits absolutely nothing in this kit? All of the caps sealed fine when tightened by hand so it did not bother me that this wrench wasn't there. Plus, my thought is if you need a wrench to tighten these caps somethings wrong with the design or the quality? (o-ring caps should seal) The kits also comes with a little black zippered bag with an assortment of adapters. When I opened this up you can see all of these adapters were just thrown into the bag even though there are little elastic bands to hold each one individually. When I went to put the adapters into each spot I see why they were just thrown in there. They are a pain to fit into each elastic band. The kit includes a ball valve on the hose to close off the fluid flow and appears well made and really helps the whole process. It was great that this was included as part of the kit. My transmission takes about 4L of fluid so I bought the 3L version. I washed out the tank prior to use since I saw some chips in the tank and I didn't want these ending up in the transmission. I also used water and marked the tank in 0.5L increments. This would be a great improvement to the kit. Mold in, or mark the tank in 0.5L increments so you can monitor how much fluid is being used. After letting the tank dry I filled it with the transmission fluid. Closed everything up, made sure the ball valve was closed, picked the adapter that worked best for my car and then pumped up tank. Versus my "top name brand" brake flush tank, this seems to pump up much faster. I put the adapter into the fill port of the transmission and opened the ball valve slowly. The total volume of the tank worked well to have sufficient pressure to force the fluid into the transmission without constantly pumping. Another nice feature of this tank is it has the little tank pressure release check valve. You simply press this and it bleeds the pressure off before opening the fill cap. (another great feature NOT on my brake flush tank kit) Once the pressure was relieved I added a bit more transmission fluid and finished the job. I would love to see a bit longer hose and the tank marked in 0.5L increments. You've probably noticed that in multiple spots I compared this system to the system used to flush brake fluid. This system is significantly better and higher quality than what I purchased for brakes. I plan on using it for brake fluid since it is a much better system at a lower cost break point. Purchased this Pump to fill 2.5 liters of ATF into a 2019 VW Tiguan. Was a bit concerned that it would leak but did not lose a single drop! The fill adapter included in the kit worked great, I used the ATF 105. You can buy this pump with confidence and save yourself hundred of dollars (DIY project). Just make sure you keep the temp of the ATF at around 35C and refill exactly what comes out. I took the advice of one of the reviewers and made marks at .5 liter internals with water prior to use.     • Excellent pump for LV ATF!!
Because newer Ford's don't have a traditional dipstick to check the transmission oil you have to fill them from a port right on the transmission. It's a total PITA to fill these transmissions and you make a huge mess in the process. I filled this pump up with mercon LV, pumped it up and filled the transmission maybe spilling 1 single drop. You have to casually pump this while filling to maintain pressure but this pump made filling my transmission 100x easier than using a syringe style to fill. The hose on this pump is extremely flexible and is super easy to work with even when cold, its not a crappy vinyl that gets stiff when cold. This is one of those products I will remember buying for a long time because of its value in making my life easier. I've been draining/filling my transmission to in effect get all new fluid in it and have pumped 15gallons with this pump without any issue. ... show more
