Description

Winsor & Newton Series 7 - The World's Finest Water Color Brush. More than any other tool, the brush is a direct and fluid extension of the artist’s hand, eye and expressive vision. It is with that principle in mind that Winsor & Newton has crafted fine artists’ brushes for over 150 years, earning a reputation for making the world’s finest from the very best raw materials. The standards of quality for this brush were set in 1866, when her majesty Queen Victoria gave orders that Winsor & Newton, holders of the Royal Warrant, be commanded to produce the very finest water color brushes in her favorite size the No. 7. The resulting brush known as the Series 7 and the standards of quality set in 1866 are the same today. There are three essential qualities that define the finest water color brush: Point, Snap & Spring and Flow Control. Since 1866, the handmade Series 7 has proven itself to be the standard –bearer in all those qualities, offering a rapier-like point, perfectly balanced spring with extraordinary capacity and flow control. For artists who appreciate exquisite quality and longevity, there is no other brush than the Winsor & Newton Series 7.

  • Great brush for arylic paint too
Size: #000 Style: Round
This brush is miles ahead of my cheap synthetic brushes, it works like a charm. Still works great, a tip for retaining the tip (heh): dip the tip in a droplet of water after you clean it, the water holds the hairs together. Just a tiny drop is enough.

  • Can you paint eyebrows on a warhammer 40k mini? Yes.
Size: #000 Style: Round
It's a tiny thing. It holds paint well for barely having any tip. It makes very thin lines on very little things very well. For those unfamiliar with warhammer minis the head of the figure is maybe 2mm tall. I painted eyebrows, pupils, and lips with it. At some point I'll wear this one out and I'll happily buy another from Winsor & Newton when I do. ... show more

  • Great brush
Size: #000 Style: Round
This holds up nice, spreads well and holds paint well. It's a good miniature brush.

  • More hype than advantage
I had been using da Vinci sable brushes and decided to try Winsor and Newton because a local shop carries them. One of the brushes I got locally was fantastic; the other was excellent. And they were slightly finer than the da Vinci brushes of the same size, so I thought I'd order more and bought a bunch on Amazon and at blah blah blah. What I seem to have found is that they're hit or miss. Moreover, they don't seem to hold their points any better than the brushes I'd been using. While da Vinci brushes don't seem to be quite as good as the best Winsor and Newton brushes I've gotten, they are consistently excellent, whereas the Winsor brushes are neither consistent nor better on average. I will keep using the Winsors I have, but I will probably stick to da Vinci brushes in future. ... show more

  • chances are if you're looking at them you already know that they're fantastic pieces of kit and a joy to work with
Size: #000 Style: Round
I don't think I need to speak to the quality of Winsor & Newton Series 7 brushes; chances are if you're looking at them you already know that they're fantastic pieces of kit and a joy to work with. You're going to pay a little more than you would otherwise but the investment is worth every penny. What I will comment on is this was shipped and delivered promptly and more importantly in pristine condition. I know a lot of people shy away from purchasing high end brushes for fear of damage in shipping. The brush was capped with a protector and the whole thing was then sealed in another plastic tube. The end result was a brush in perfect shape when it arrived on my doorstep. No bent bristles, no smashed ferrules, just a good clean product ready for use. ... show more

  • Fantastic brush, great for detail work
Size: #000 Style: Round
I have a bunch of brushes for painting Warhammer 40K figurines, but this one is far and away my favorite. It's very easy to clean, and resists being warped, unlike some of my other brushes. Despite having a thinner brush in my collection, this one is still superior for detail work (and if you've painted 40K figures before, you know how tiny those details can get). While it might seem pricey for a single brush, it's well worth it! ... show more

  • Not as durable as I would've hoped for the price.
Size: #000 Style: Round
This is a great detail brush. Unfortunately, very quickly, the hairs started to fray. It comes in a plastic tube that helps you keep it safe.

  • Decent quality
Size: #000 Style: Round
I have used this brush for over a year. It is very long lasting, and has some versatility due to it's size. I would recommend a different brush if you are going to paint miniatures, such as a number #1 or #2 of the same brush.
