  • Review pasted in comments very helpful with assembly!
Color: White Size: 5 drawer
Review with this title included very helpful tips for assembly! Overall, good for price (this review includes written tips for assembly) So, I want to preface my review by saying that (by no fault of the manufacturer,) my storage drawers are damaged. The delivery driver delivered it to the wrong house and it was left outside in the rain, box, shipping label ruined and parts of the product as well. Because I couldn’t return it without the label and what-not, I was issued a refund, but decided to put it together anyway because- well, I didn’t know what else to do with it If I couldn’t return. Anyway, because I basically got a free functioning product and I feel bad about it, I will do you a service by offering some assembly tips for you :) Instructions are pictures only, and that would be okay if they were a little more detailed, maybe closer up and labeled better. I had a bit of trouble figuring out the orientation of some of the smaller bits and pieces on this piece of furniture. Also, for some reason I was given one screw that was not the same length as all the others (pictured)? I used it anyway because it was the same diameter and it wasn’t a structural screw, just one for the drawer hardware, so I figured it’s not a huge deal. It took me (21 y/o female) about 3 hours to put together, and my hands were very sore from all the screwing afterwards (I recommend using an electric screwdriver or a drill on very low speed and torque, as particle board tends to split with too much force). I’m going to go through the steps of the instructions and add some much-needed detail for you now. 1) step one was pretty straight-foward; attach all of the m and n pieces to pieces b and c (respectively). One tip here is to make sure you have m and n on the correct sides, as none are labeled. What you want is for the end of the bar with the wheel to be in the front of the side, and with the wheel in the lower position. 2) this step is where it got a bit tricky for the pictures. There are about 3-4 things to do in this step and it was a bit unclear what should be done first. I recommend first attaching the V (lg cam lock screws) and Q2 (large dowels) To piece A first, then placing the large cam locks into the sides. Then, slide piece A into the top, lock the cam locks, and slide the back piece in afterwards. The instructions show the back piece sliding from the top, but I found it much easier to slide it in from the bottom after the top was secure. 3) the easiest step, first attach the remaining large dowels to piece D, push it into the side pieces and screw the long screws through the bottom. 4) very straight-foward, attaching the casters. One thing that was a bit frustrating here was that the holes for the screws weren’t drilled in even a quarter of the length of the screw, so it took a bit of force to get the screw to bite and start to go into the wood. This was the only part of this product where the holes were done like this. 5) the most tedious step, and also has many moving parts. The order I recommend doing it in; put together the sides and back of all the drawers with the labeled pieces, then slide in the bottoms of all the drawers. Attach the small dowels and cam screws to the drawer fronts, then add the cam locks, push the drawer fronts on and lock the cams. I tried a few other orders, for other drawers, but this was definitely the most efficient. I found at this step that some of the pre-drilled holes weren’t exactly lining up properly for the bottom of the drawer to go in, so I recommend not screwing the side pieces completely tight until you have the bottom completely pushed in, then tightening it around the bottom piece. I also noticed that there were some discrepancies in the pictures provided for this step, the pieces don’t look exactly like what is given. For this, you want your sides to be oriented where the slot for the bottom is on the bottom, the two holes are in the back and the hole for the cam lock is in the front top. Attaching the drawer wheels was very simple and straight-forward. I hope this was helpful to anyone that was slightly confused by the picture-only instructions :) Verified Purchase Good for nail polish storage ...polish. Fits all brands of gel polish that I own. • Doesn't hold as much as you might think
Color: White Size: 7 drawer
INTRO I bought this because I am desperate for storage space for cables, various pieces and parts and other "project" type stuff. I got this specific unit because it matches the 5-drawer unit I got to go under my desk. It was 15% off the list price of $170, and I paid $144.50 per unit. I got two units. I also got the 5-drawer and 5-drawer with cabinet units: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006WYUQDY?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07K9F7XYC?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details PRICING: I think the price is very high for what you get. You get a 7-drawer unit for $145. The 5-drawer units (that are basically the same, but with 5 drawers) are only $78. So you're paying quite the premium for those two extras drawers and a little more height (width and depth are the same). I'm not going to bother sending these back, but if I had it to do over again, I probably wouldn't buy them at this price. $100 is more reasonable for these. Anyway - aside from that...quality is OK. Tolerances are a little loose - so things are not lined up perfectly. There's a bit too much spacing/slop in the drawers for my taste - but it's OK at $100/unit. At $145/unit, it's pretty bad. GENERAL COMMENTS: The drawers are shallow height, and shallow depth (compared to the cabinet) so they hold a lot less than you probably want. They also doesn't hold anything with much height, such as a small 3 oz can of spray paint, which is a real bummer. So for arts & crafts and projects like that, these drawers are probably not ideal. For holding 8.5" x 11" papers in two stacks side by side, they won't work. For storage of things like computer cables, various electronics gadgets, pencils and staplers and office kinds of things, they're OK. This unit is a rolling unit. The wheels are cheap plastic, but it rolls OK on my hardwood floor. Would probably suck on carpet. To my surprise and delight, I discovered that the wheels do have "locks" on them, so you can lock it into position to keep it from moving. Handy if you wanted to use the surface for a work table or something. The drawers slide OK for what they are. They don't really "lock in" so they will want to slide out if you roll the unit around much. This unit could be greatly improved if the drawers had better retention, so you had to more actively slide them out, with a little effort. You could probably paint this unit if you wanted to. Would be kind of a PITA. I'd recommend scuffing the entire surface to be painted, for better adhesion. I would also recommend doing it before assembly, and using a sprayer or roller, rather than a paint brush. Unit could use a handle on the front, so give you something to grab on to when rolling it. Side would work, but for my use case, front would be better since it is under my desk facing forward. I will probably acquire a handle and install it when I get some time. IMPROVEMENTS NEEDED: First, the drawers for all of these Winsome Halifax Storage/Organization pieces are shorter than the cabinets. There is room in the cabinets to make the drawers another 2" deeper (toward the wall), but they don't do so. I don't understand why. Either make the drawer deeper or the cabinet shorter. Secondly, the width of these drawer units should be a little wider, so they can handle two reams of paper side by side. As it is, you can put one ream of paper in, and then have space on one side of it that isn't useful for much. I'd love to be able to put in a second ream of paper, or even stack standard size printouts side by side. The product would be so much better if they just added a few inches to the unit's width. Third, the drawers need some "retention" so they snap closed and don't open when you roll the units. The drawers would be more useful if they had a little more height, so you could store slightly larger things in them. They are 3.75" high and should be more like 4.5" high (or even 5"). BUILDING THE UNITS: As an experienced DIY person, this took me two hours to build because the instructions SUCK! They're the typical "no words, only pictures" type of instructions. Plus, nothing was labeled. In the pictures, they show part "A" or "B" or whatever, but the pieces themselves are not labeled. You have to keep referring back to the parts list and figure out which part is which. Even pre-sorting the stuff doesn't help much. The biggest issue was that in the very first step, the picture shows one thing, but then they show a measurement to go by. The information conflicts. What are you supposed to do? Here's a hint. Ignore the whole "16mm" thing entirely. Just do what the PICTURE shows, which is using the SECOND HOLE on the metal part on the front. It won't come out to 16mm from the front of the cabinet, but that's OK. They should just delete the "16 mm" part because all it does is add confusion. For the reason above - I ended up skipping this part of the instructions and went to building the drawers first. I was meticulous about recording the time I spent to build these two units. Keep in mind to that I had previous experience building the 5-drawer unit yesterday, so I pretty much already knew what I was doing here, AND I was specifically trying to go fast. You're going to be slower if you haven't built one of these and/or are going at a more relaxed pace. The time breaks down like this (all times are for TWO units): 1). Unbox/unpack, sort out all parts, separate the drawer guides, open hardware, throw away all packaging and boxes to the trash outside: 37 minutes 2). Skipped to step 5 and build all 14 drawers, including attaching glides: 53 minutes. 3). Attach glides to cabinet sides: 12 minutes 4). Build both cabinets, attach the wheels and insert the drawers: 35 minutes Overall, both units took me 137 minutes to unbox and build to completion. That's 2h17m, or about 1 hour and 9 minutes per unit. It took me about 2 hours to build the 5-drawer unit yesterday, so you can see the difference having some experience with these makes. ... show more

  • Great product BUT drawers too small for me
Color: White Size: 5 drawer
I bought 3 of these for my craft room thinking by the dimensions listed on the item that the drawers would hold 12x12 paper. Nope!! They are about a half inch short on the depth. Very disappointed because the construction of these is very nice. The drawer slides a smooth and this is very well made. I put one together so I am keeping that, will just put smaller things in it. The height is good too, with wheels on it is the same as the similar items from Michaels line of craft room cabinets. Overall this is a very well made item and a great price. Wish the drawers we a little bigger for my needs. ... show more

  • Good for the price
Color: White Size: 5 drawer
Not bad for the price. I like the convenience of having it delivered at no extra cost. Assembly was ok; however, some pre-drilled holes weren't properly aligned, so I had to create my own. The top draw will not close completely flush with the others, but it doesn't really bother me. The casters aren't great, and this doesn't move around as smoothly as I would like. I'm an average strength female in her 30s and I was able to carry the box up several stairs. All-in-all I am happy with my purchase and these drawers serve their purpose. ... show more

  • drawers are a bit short but otherwise fine
Color: White Size: 5 drawer
First off, the main drawback is that the drawers are a bit short. I knew they were shallow (which is what I wanted) but the drawers don't extend far enough into the body of the cabinet despite there being room for another inch or two. The drawers also don't quite extend out as much as I would've liked, but for the price I paid I'm not too fussed about it. Putting it together was pretty easy. But I've done a lot it before, so I didn't really need to consult the instructions very often except to know which bolt or screw to use where. It took me about an hour or so to put it together. Is it the best cabinet of it's type? No, but a high quality cabinet of this type costs way more than $80 and this one gets the job done. ... show more
