  • easy to use, great value, nice compact storage size, snake loves it
I got this for my daughter for use with her African egg eating snake. She has been using a chip substrate before that was recommended as being better and lower in dust than aspen, but when she expanded this Winemana substrate and used this for the first time she says she will never go back anything else. First of all you get a huge volume of substrate for such a small size in terms of storage. It was easy to expand and use and took very little time when following directions and using HOT water. My daughter was very amused at how when it was expanding it expanded upwards to like three times the height without really expanding outward towards the sides. It is low/no dust, very soft, and the snake immediately took to it and was more active than before in the chip substrate, so the snake definitely prefers this substrate. It will also be easier to see the snake poop so we can collect samples for lab testing at the snake's vet visits. For the volume you get it is a great value too. Very happy with this stuff, will definitely be buying it again. ... show more

  • Good Product
I love these coconut bricks. They are fairly easy to reconstitute, just submerge them in TONS of water and break them apart. Due to needing to soak in water, they make a mess so I recommend doing this outside. I mix these (1/4 coconut, 3/4 soil) to help add drainage to my soil and they work great. If you have muddy soil like I do, these are great for getting better drainage going. I've tested them indoors with a ratio of (3/4 coconut: 1/4 potting soil) and these still do fine other than drying out faster than regular potting soil alone. In addition, they produce some type of mold/fungus as well when the ratio is that high. ... show more
