  • Great Hybrid
Hand Orientation: Right Shaft Material: Graphite Flex: Regular Loft: 25 Degrees
I was looking for a hybrid to replace an old tight lie club. This club gives me the distance I need from the fairway plus some. This 25 degree club fit the bill

  • Club replaces normal 5 iron.
Easy to hit. Do not like the stock grip.

  • Good feel on perfect swings
For this review I used the Wilson Staff Men's D7 hybrid, 22 degrees with regular flex shaft. The Wilson D7 line offers a quality series of hybrids for anyone who's an intermediate-range golfer. The swing with a regular flex shaft feels consistent and smooth, and I think I get good swing speeds with it. The club head is weighted well in the follow-through so I don't feel like I'm twisting my wrists or the head with an unbalanced weight. The top of the crown is black with a simple alignment arrow. The basic looks is good and doesn't cause any glare or weird color pattern distractions as you swing through the ball. I would say the club face is good. When you line things up well and get a perfect hit, everything feels great and with the nice balance, I'm almost always getting straight shots or wind up with a light touch of fade to it. For me, the distance was where I would personally expect to be, about 180-190 yards at the driving range for a 22 degree hybrid. I would only describe the forgiveness factor as "ok." I think I get more forgiveness on mishits with my comparable Taylor Made hybrid from 2 years ago, which was basically the same price. However, on perfect contact the Wilson D7 feels sweeter and seems like it gets a few more yards. If I'm nitpicking, I don't really like the included club cover, but it's a personal preference that I like the more rigid, compact covers that slide back on a little quicker without the club number hanging by a tab. Overall, I think the Wilson Men's D7 hybrid is very well suited for players who get to the course at least once a month in-season and have some moderate level of skill. Perfect strikes fly straight and feel great, especially when you pick the ball clean while in some rough from 200 yards out. But if you're more likely to shoot 100 on a fair weather day, you might want to test out a few hybrids and see if you can find one that offers a tad more forgiveness. ... show more

  • Decent for the price, but feels heavy to me
Overall, this club works ok. It's about average for this type of club price wise. My issue is it feels a bit heavy and unbalanced compared to my other similar clubs. It seems well made and looks nice. Sometimes it's hard to buy a club online without trying it out in your hands first. But Wilson has a good reputation, I don't hesitate when it comes to trying their brand. ... show more

  • A Work Of Art
These Wilson Staff D7 Hybrids are a first class product and each comes with its own cover. I have the #4 and have been consistently hitting straight shots with it. I’ve had a budget level #3 Hybrid for some time and was surprised to find that the shaft of the D7 is several inches longer. And the head is much larger that my basic model, in fact it is little different in dimensions from a four or a five wood. So I think your basic weekend hacker could play a respectable round with just a driver, two hybrids, a six or seven iron iron, a wedge, and a putter. You might sacrifice some distance by not using fairway woods but your straighter shots would make that up and you would lose fewer balls. ... show more

  • D7 hybrid head has great feel and feedback
The head design doesn't seem too exotic or special but it works well. The face is taller than my Callaway XR Pro hybrids. I went with the 22 degree 4 hybrid because I found that I had difficulty with consistent ball striking with my 4 iron (which is realy like a 3 iron these days). My iron set starts with a 5 iron (which is like a 4 iron of yesteryear), and this 22 hybrid takes the spot between the 5 iron and my D7 fairway. The Carpenter steel face provides a positive sound and is forgiving on mishits and reminds me a bit of my old Taylormade Rocketballz hybrid. ... show more
