As for all Wilson products I've bought, this is a solid football. Though it is still too big for my son to through well, it's Pee Wee so the right size for his league. He loves playing with it and is great for both practice and for games. Good, solid, durable product.

My husband wanted my toddler to play with a real looking football at an early age so I read tons of reviews on here comparing quality and size of different youth footballs and eventually decided on this one because of its appearance, relative price and because it is smaller than full size. The crazy thing is when my son was a little over two, he started playing with this all the time. Once football season started a few months ago, he became nearly inseparable with it. It has come on all vacations and sometimes even on car rides around town. The best thing is he plays his own version of football while his dad watches his games on tv and likes to "play along" with the players on the screen (he even makes touchdowns, kicks field goals and tackles himself while playing with it). I believe it makes him feel special to be using one just like the real players and it is fun to watch him. That being said, this is still a pretty big ball for a 2 or a 3 year old. We play catch with it almost daily and although he throws and catches it really very well, I am always afraid he will end up jamming or busting one of his fingers while he is trying to catch it. But after a year of play it still hasn't happened. However, this year for Christmas, I am getting him a Gamemasters Mini Football that Dicks Sporting Goods sells as it is much better sized for his hands and is very lightweight and still has the brown leather "official" look (around $18). He played with one in the store and he has talked about it ever since. The Gamemaster football world have been a better ball to start off using for a 2-5 year old as i think he will close his eyes less while catching (which will obviously help his catch ratio) but I know he will still keep using this one even after he gets his new ball. ... show more

My son plays flag football in a league that uses the NFL FLAG Football ball. I looked around a lot to try and find one that was of similar size and this is it I think it's pretty much exactly the same with just different branding.
