I purchased this after having little to no pain relief from an intense bursitis flare in my shoulder. I already tried using a standard bought-at-walmart quality sling and suffered from it slipping around, pinching/pressure across my throat, and getting scratched up by the cheap velcro adjusting strap against the skin on my neck. I am not a small person so was a little concerned with the sizing listed on this post, but I discovered that it was more than adequate. The first time I put it on, after a moment of figuring out how the harness needed to be situated and getting my arm into the proper positioning to take the weight off my shoulder, I had astonishingly immediate pain relief. The harness system minimized the stress on my neck, allowing me to relax both shoulders. The strap around my chest was comfortable and effective at immobilizing my shoulder to allow it to rest and heal. I could not use that hand for anything in the mean-time (no typing, weight balance, etc.) but that is the point. And I am a fair snob about quality-to-cost, so I am glad to say I am pleased with the quality of the materials and manufacture. I think it will stand up to long-term use with proper maintenance. I purchased this sling because I had bicep repair surgery. The sling provided by the ER was uncomfortable. This sling is amazing! I have worn it 48 hours and it has not bothered me. It is soft material and the entire back straps are flat. So it makes it comfortable to sleep in. The Velcro stays on very well. I have not had to adjust 1 time. There are air holes throughout the sling making it breathable. The sling can open on the top to slide ice packs inside and close back up. I have to wear for 3 month. My shoulder feels so much better now that it is supposed by the sling. My arm was yanked by my Border Collie who took off at full spead while I was holding the leash. Now that my shoulder popped back into place I needed to stabilize my arm. This sling did the trick. Very comfortable & easy to put on by yourself. I only needed help adjusting the strap that comes from behind you.... it was to long and needed to be cut. Two hands required for cutting 😉 ... show more

I like that there were limited seems on the inside of this sling, so there was a lot less irritation, post surgery. However, after a few weeks, the inside started to wear, and I end up with a small hole or two.
