I moved into a finished basement that was wide open, the only rooms were a laundry and a bath room. There was no closet or storage of any kind. I got two of these units and put them together to create a kind of partition to keep my sleeping are separated from my living area. I put all of my cloths on these racks. Most of them hanging, but I also bought some fabric bins to go on the shelves and used them for drawers to put my socks and other small items in. I had items stored on every square inch of these two shelves, including the shelf across the bottom. It was rock solid and worked like a charm. I found the system easy to install, with just a few hiccups on my part. The center bar is too close to the top bar for someone like me that wears big and tall clothing. It can be kind of a pain to put items on the rod, because there is barely enough room between the top rod and the shelf above it. I ended up removing the center bar on one unit so I could hang my heavy winter coats on that side. Pros: Inexpensive Pretty strong, can hold a lot of stuff Easy to put together Center bar can be removed Cons: Can be a little wobbly while lightly loaded Center bar is too close to top bar for someone that wears big and tall clothing ... show more

Works great for my husbands gear. Easy assembly for the most part. Some pieces were a little hard to snap into place but overall not bad. Didn’t get storage bins for the short shelves yet, but so far it’s holding up nicely and holds more weight than I thought it would.

Being a typical New Yorker (in other words, VERY short on closet space), I got these for my wardrobe so that I could clear out my tiny closet and use it for other things (namely for storing bulky items). I didn't want to spend a lot in case I decided I hated the idea of having all my clothes out in the open in my bedroom, but I also didn't want to buy something that was going to break in a week, and these racks turned out to be an extremely fair compromise. Some notes on assembly: It says "no tools" but you'll probably want a mallet or something to smack the rods into place. I just used my hand but I wouldn't recommend that to people who don't like pain. Getting the shelves into the plastic brackets is really hard - they're just a teeny bit off in sizing (all 4 - I bought 2 sets of these), which I'm guessing helps them stay in place, but it can be a royal pain to get 'em jammed in there in the first place. Other than that, assembly was pretty easy. my only real complaint is that these shelves do not look sturdy at all. The rods definitely get a little wonky by the time you're done putting them together and when you put stuff on them. With that said, I've had zero problems with their stability; they just LOOK like they're going to break/collapse. I've reinforced some of the corners just by using zip ties but that's mostly because I'm paranoid. I also zip-tied them to the wall using some spare brackets, to make sure they wouldn't tip over, but honestly I think they'd be fine even if I didn't do that. (The floors in my bedroom are slightly uneven, and again, paranoid.) I probably overload these things - I have my entire wardrobe on two of them (work clothes on one, non-work on the other), plus shoes, hats, and just for fun, threw the extra blankets and sheets on the top. So far, a few months in, no issues at all. I would definitely recommend these to folks looking for cheap but sturdy garment racks. ... show more

    • AMAZING! EXCELLENT PRODUCT AT GREAT PRICE!

I was, rather am, amazed by this product. I needed space for my nine year old grandson's clothes of which he has a good deal of. The upper rod is for shirts and the lower is used for his jeans. The side cubbie spaces are used for tops and his shoes fit neatly on the lower rack just beneath his jeans. I'm still in awe of how sturdy this unit is. It was easy to assemble. My son was there to give more force to pushing the rods into the plastic. I was using a hammer with a few light taps and got the same results, but didn't want to keep up too much noise because it was very late evening. It took around 45 minutes because my grandson and I were goofing off. The directions are great. Very easy to follow and understand. So, I'd have to say that it could actually be put together in about 20 minutes. If I had to do another one, it would probably be closer to 15 minutes. Bottom line? It's easy to put together. Be sure to push all the rods into the plastic connectors completely and you should have no problems. I'd recommend this substitute close in a heartbeat. It's just that good. However, if you're going to use it for an adult's clothing, keep in mind that the items will be heavier and longer, so be smart. Don't overload the unit, then write a bad product report saying it's not sturdy enough. Spend the extra money to get something more suited to your needs. This product is A-1 for kids clothes, or as an extra closet. Not sure how it would do for coats because I have a coat closet. But, it's working great for my needs. My son will be buying a couple for his kids after seeing how well mines is holding up. Hopes this helps. ... show more
