This light looked great, but the pull string snapped off after 5 months of use. I took apart the fixture to see if I could reattach it, but there was no way to get into the housing of the string, and the metal had snapped. Needed a fixture with a pull chain to replace a worn out ceiling fan. There is no wall switch, so I had to find something with a pull chain. Like so many others have mentioned there are surprisingly few such fixtures on the market. This fixture was about the largest I found and was also about the least expensive. I installed the fixture today with no problems what so ever. I have done a lot of electrical work over the years so it was easy for me. I installed two 40 watt eq. LED light bulbs and have plenty of light in the 10X12 room. Item was undamaged in transit. UPDATE: Ordered a second fixture. No problems with the second unit. It's difficult to find a chain pull light fixture, but Amazon has several. Many of the chain pull lights are actually accessory fixtures for a fan, so read the details carefully. This light fixture was simple to install and inexpensive. Bought a chain extension at Home Depot for a few dollars that has a crystal on the end that adds to the look (didn't want to use the string extension provided). Another reviewer noted that after a few months the chain broke inside the fixture. Not sure what caused the break, but you can buy a replacement switch at the hardware store for under $5.     • Such an Improvement Over Flouescent Fixtures

I got this to replace my old fluorescent fixture of many years. I figured that with LED bulbs it would cost less to use, as well as give a better, whiter light. It has lived up to my expectationsahd I am enjoying much better visibility in my kitchen. am an older person eight visual issues and this is quite an improvement. In addition, I don't have to worry about getting someone in to replace a bulb or starter as I can no longer climb ladders to do such things. It may not be God's gift to decorator s, but it is replacing 2 fluorescent rings which were no beauties and this is fine for the money ... show more

I thought the lamp would be big the base the glass but its quite compact and looks really nice like a little half moon nice lighting and not too hard to install. My building is very old so I had trouble screwing stuff in old sheetrock and taping up ends but in modern housing it would be a breeze to install just be safe and turn the power off first! I recommend these lets hope they last. Cheers. Update 11.16/20 Make sure to screw the screws that hold the glass lamp tight I had left them loose and over time they must have loosened more and glass dome fell shattering into a million pieces but since i liked it I bought it again to replace the dome so be sure tighten the screws well. ... show more

The pull switch seems a bit flimsy but works as it should. Not gorilla proof. Be sure the box you are mounting this light to is mounted correctly. The light fixture is only as good as the box it’s mounted to.... I had to use washers on one of the mounting studs to get the fixture to tighten correctly as one of the studs threads into a blind hole in my ceiling box. Not a deal breaker. It looks great and does the job. Good value. Takes 2 standard light bulbs. Well insulated. Was designed before the modern LED bulbs were invented. Installed 2 of these lights; extremely tinny ( pull chain hard to pull so you hear this tin click type of noise. Easy to install (yet the screws could have been a little longer and the head could be slightly larger so the screws don't go back up into the holes. Probably not explaining that correctly, the screws barely make it through the holes, where you tighten the light to the junction box. I would not purchase again, not worth the $21.xx dollars because of how cheap it is made, and the base seems to be. ... show more

I run an Airbnb and we have ceiling fans and fixed lights in the main room, all run off same switch. I noticed guests would turn off the light part of the fans but were unable to turn off the fixed lights without having to power down the fans so I decided to see if I could find some nice pull-string fixtures so they could turn off all the lights, leave the fans going and enjoy a nice dark room while movie viewing. I was so pleased to find these! They had the color and style I was hoping for. The only thing I would recommend the makers change would be using a chain pull instead of the cheap white string, it does cheapen the look, poor choice.
