  • Great for drop ceiling fans
We have a metal framed house with a suspended drop ceiling that was going to make it difficult to install fans. I purchased six of these and the installation was so easy and completely solved my issues of not having anything to hang our fans from. Would definitely recommend these and be will buy again if I ever decide to add more fans. ... show more

  • Just about every part you need to attach a light to drywall
So I bought this so I could attach a normal light fixture to a drop ceiling panel because I did not have sufficient headroom for a recessed light. This kit contained a lot more than I needed but should have everything for your situation. In my case I have a 2'x2' grid and my light fixture (not a fan) was <10 pounds. I only used one of the braces and did not use the chain as I thought it unnecessary for my situation. Yes there is another part here at amazon that seems more appropriate but this one is cheaper and you never know how you are going to attach these things until you have everything apart. On lesson learned is cut the hold for the electrical box smaller than the electrical box. You want the electrical box to ride on top of the tile and the screws from your fixture to pinch the tile between it and the box. The first tile I cut I made it the same size and the trim kit would not snug up to the ceiling tile. Your mileage may vary and I am no expert electrician or on county code...but this did exactly what I wanted. I needed to put a normal flush mount light on a drop ceiling tile. FYI if you haven't thought about it already this all means that the light fixture is attached to the tile and if you want to remove tiles you will have to disassemble the light fixture or have room above the drop to accommodate the box, tile, and light fixture. In my case with the low clearance above the tile I will have to disassemble but that is a small price to pay to get the light where you need it. Very happy to have amazon on this one as 5 hardware stores I went to just gave me blank looks and pointed to recessed lights ... show more

  • Make sure you have clearance for chain, since that's what holds the fixture weight
First of all, it works, so there's that. The design however assumes you have 12-24 inches of clearance above your drop ceiling and a place for the retaining chain to mount, since that carries all of the weight of the fixture. In my case, I only had about 10 inches above the drop ceiling, so I had to jerry-rig a mount solution by screwing brackets into the ceiling for the chain. The instructions could be more clear about recommended clearances. It's also not clear that the rods are only for stability and not structural, and that the chain provides all of the support. It's a decent product, the instructions just leave a lot to be desired, and it isn't very adaptable to different ceiling heights without a lot of extra work. ... show more

  • Works as Advertised, Great Value
I used this product to install ceiling fans through a drop ceiling. As long as you have easy access through the ceiling tiles next to the install location, installation is pretty straight forward. I saw a video complaining about the bracket bring wobbly. That was clearly from the customer not tightening the bolts down onto the cross bars. Position the box over your hole and then rachet down the nuts to clamp onto the bars. There is literally zero movement of the fans even while on high speeds. Granted, the three fans I installed were $110 each, so having a higher quality, well balanced fan would certainly help. ... show more

  • Absolutely great as long as u make this quick and easy adjustment
Hell yes I gave it some time for me to actually test the product!!! I will say I made one slight adjustment to them but they are very secure!!! I put a self tapping screw in thru the plastic clip to make sure it was secure. Not a wobble not even once I have these connected to fans! I have three set up in my bagel shop. Definitely great for the price! I put pics up! Look where I placed the self tapping screws...you gonna need to make this little adjustment. It does not come with the set. ... show more
