This review is for the WD 4TB Portable drive, as well as the Anrain 4 Port USB 3.0.. The main reason for purchasing these items, was the recent update for the PlayStation 4 Console. The new addition to be able to have external hard drive support was a wonderful addition, so I purchased these for this reason. Shipping was on time, and the products arrived in excellent condition. Set up was quite easy also...I attached a picture for you to see my setup. I wanted the 4 Port HUB so as to be able to plug in my Sony Wireless headset dongle. Knowing in advance, that you MUST directly plug the external HD into the Ps4, and the fact that I also have the Ps4 stand which needs to be powered...I was going to be out a USB port...this remedies that problem. If you are looking for a solution to this as I was, or just want extra USB space, as well as extra hard drive storage, then I would highly recommend these products and sellers. ... show more

As a pro video editor working with 4K Red Camera footage on daily basis, I literally have boxes of these drives. I use one or two per project, so the price is right for the amount of storage they provide (4TB). I should probably evolve to a larger storage system, but I just love the portability of these drives. The only thing I would add is that if you leave them alone too long (years), they have a tendency to lock up and won't spin up. So it's a good idea to go through once a year and spin up all your drives...anything that seems sketchy or slow, maybe back it up on a fresh one. Nothing lasts forever...not even your memories. ... show more

I bought this as a small but cheap alternative to getting bigger storage in my computer. I thought of simple portability and ease of access. I figured it would be decently fast and durable. Well I had this product for a little over 3 weeks and had multiple issues that are not the products fault at all. In the end I had set this device on my computer which was about 3 feet off the ground while it was still plugged in and woke up the next morning to the sound of my cat pulling it to the ground. That small impact rendered the entire drive useless. I attempted every data recovery software / Techniques on the internet. Luckily Amazon is great with their return policy and got me a refund ASAP and I ended up buying an Internal HDD instead and hands down the best decision I ever made. These are my top 4 pros and Cons. Pros: 1. Color choice was great for aesthetics. 2. Was about the size of an over sized cell phone. 3. Plug and Play 4. Portable Cons: 1. Not drop forgivable very much while its plugged in 2. Even being USB 3.0, the Data transfer speeds were subpar at best. 3. Short cord that comes with it 4. Just not worth having that kind of storage on something that can be rendered useless in a matter of seconds. Since then I have bought 2 2TB HDD's and am running them in Raid because it is just not worth it to lose almost 3TB of data in one shot and with all the data recovery services being over $400 to even take a look is just way out of my budget. Final Thoughts: Amazon return policy is top notch, WD is a good brand, Portable hard drives are just not worth it IMO Hope this helped somebody, and by all means if you are not afraid of "Accidentally dropping it" then this is a great drive for everyday portable use, I just would not trust anything on here that is irreplaceable. ... show more

My computer was filling up with a lot of pictures and documents, and so I decided to buy this. It is a huge amount of storage, and I will be able to use it for the rest of my life. I'm so glad I have a new place to store all of my pictures and documents without them slowing down my computer. The sleek design of this and the compact casing is one of the most beautiful Hard drives that I've seen. So glad I took a chance on this my passport. Bought this as an external HD for PS4. Though it originally said that the device wasn't supported when I plugged it in, following the instructions under the notifications led to a very simple and quick instillation. The device works fine and for the price? It's a great value. The 'official' sony licensed game drive that just came out runs about the same price but for 2TB's less than you get if you'd get the 4TB here. The only annoying thing is it's LED indicator is very bright and will flash on and off while the PS4 is in Rest Mode, but.. that's nothing tape can't fix. ... show more

It's been a great external HD, but after 22 months it just crashed. Luckily it's still under warranty which is 3 years. I've submitted my RMA and will get a replacement drive, but everything on the drive is lost. I guess you really need to backup your backup with a 2nd drive for these reasons. I put too much faith in this drive. Luckily I don't think I lost anything that important, but you'd be wise to make 2 backups of everything that's important to you. I still love WD. HDs just crash sometimes. :( ... show more
