  • A little too fast for some things, but amazing little tool!
Style: With Case and Flex Shaft Pattern Name: Rotary Tool
This thing gets the job done quickly and easily, and after a recent purchase of the more well-known competitor in the rotary tools market, I MUCH prefer the Wen. Overall product quality and finish is significantly better, the Wen is less noisy, better balanced, and FAR cheaper. It also comes with the flex shaft instead of offering it as an accessory to hit you for another $35. The flex shaft is a little shorter but still offers plenty of flexibility. The one issue with this is that the screw mandrel that is supposed to screw into the buffer pads was not threaded, so it doesn't fit the pads and there's no way to get it into the little hole even using a good bit of force. I'll be emailing customer service and requesting they send a new one, and unless they leave me hanging, by the time this review is posted I'm reasonably sure I'll have one on the way. If customer service doesn't respond, I'll come back and update this review, so if it's not updated at the bottom, you can assume it was an easy fix and was taken care of without much fuss. I love this thing. I use it mostly for cutting and finishing plastics for my hydroponics setups and it does everything I've needed so far. It's well-built, nicely finished with care and quality, very powerful and runs constantly at mid-range speeds 10-15 minutes without heating up. The case is well-designed and fits everything perfectly. The power cord and flex shaft stow neatly and lock into place, as does the tool itself and the small box of accessories. I did purchase the 280-piece accessory bundle, which also comes in a nicely-designed, well-fit organizer case. I recommend it as an additional purchase if you use your rotary tools a lot. Even after adding in the accessory bundle, my total cost is well under 1/3 of what the more known name device cost me, even before accounting for the trouble and expense of having to return the more expensive one before I came across this one. Happy I took a chance, and I'll be looking at Wen for more toys and tools in the future! ... show more

  • Very useful tool!
Style: With Case and Flex Shaft Pattern Name: Rotary Tool
Very easy to use right out of the box. Needed to trim a plastic knob with a cutting wheel and it handled the task with ease! I’m sure I will use this a lot. Much cheaper than a Dremel tool, but it will do the same job.

  • Decent tool, great warranty
Style: With Case and Flex Shaft Pattern Name: Rotary Tool
You definitely get what you pay for, but the tool is good for 20 dollars. My power switch also broke after 10 or 20 uses. However, I bought this tool a year ago before it broke recently and the manufacturer honored the lifetime warranty by sending me another tool. The 1.3a version might be something to look into if the warranty is this good. Overall good value for the money. ... show more

  • For the money this is amazing!
Style: With Case and Flex Shaft Pattern Name: Rotary Tool
I love this rotary tool. Mind you it’s not a 150$+ dremmel but it is a workhorse and very reliable. I see these comments of disappointed people saying it’s not up to there standards and there dremmel is better. I don’t understand that. This is a 20$ rotary tool and the best one for that price you can find. Most of these reviews are comparing to high end expensive dremmels and that doesn’t make sense to me. Anyway I like the rotary tool very much and the first thing I did was buy the keyless Chuck made by wen so I don’t have to deal with collets and have them wear out or keep changing them when I need to use a different size bit. Best investment I made. Makes life so much easier. I ended up buying 2, one for the rotary and one for the flex shaft. Also if you have never used a flex shaft you need to understand that you have to take the collar off and slide the insert out of the flex shaft so you can clamp the rotary tool on it and then screw it on where you removed the collar. I recommend every 20 to 30 hours of use with the flex shaft take the insert out and wipe the grease off and reapply a light amount of grease. That way it doesn’t heat up. I’ve found that with this particular flex shaft graphite does not work so well like other models. It will get hot with graphite. I’ve found that Valvoline red high temp bearing grease works the absolute best. You can buy it in the tube here on Amazon or at you’re local auto parts store. The high temp is what you need and it prevents grease from melting down into the handle of the flex shaft. All in all this is a win win if you understand how to maintain and take care of it. I originally got one of these because my grandfather has one and it’s over 12 years old and it’s still working. Probably has a couple thousand hours of use on his. Take care of you’re stuff it will take care of you… ... show more

  • Prefer over Dremel
Style: With Case and Flex Shaft Pattern Name: Rotary Tool
I carve rocks using diamond bits (See pic) and I was using a dremel brand tool and extension for the bits. I went through 2 dremels and was on a 3rd and then the extension wore out. I went through 3 extensions actually. The locking mechanism to hold the bits tight wears out and you need to remove the ball and stick a pin in to hold the clasp. NOT WITH THIS SET UP! This is nice! It already has a hole in the tip to stick a small screwdriver in the extension to remove bits, so there is no ball spring to wear out. This is just a tad quieter than my dremels were as well. And for the price, this is a great deal, I purchased another set to have on hand for just in case. When I carve rocks, I am running these things for hours. Every 20 hours or so, I remove the extension inner spline and lightly grease with high temp grease is all I have been doing. Runs great! Speed adjusts fine for my needs. I usually run them for a max of about an hour or so and this is holding up just fine after 4 months. It is so easy to change bits on this one. I use a small screwdriver, they give you a small allen wrench thing, but i the longer handled screwdriver is the ticket for me, slide right into the hole and I can use my mini channel lock wrench to untighten and re tighten the collet on. So I dont use the ones they send with this, I like something a little more beefy to hold. So that is the only knock i see, but the little ones they provide do work, they are just harder to hold. They give you a few bits and stuff with this and for the price this is the set you need. I hang mine up high and do not bend the extension more than you are supposed to. This holds the bits very well, better than the dremels I used did, they would loosen some times. Sorry dremel, I wont be back. ... show more
