  • Great little tool for the price
Style: Corded Basic Pattern Name: Tool Kit
I used to use a Dremel tool all the time when I was a kid 25-30 years ago And they always cost a fortune back then. I really liked the fact that this came with the flex shaft attachment, and the variety of accessories that came with the tool for the price. I very much like that you’re able to adjust the speed of the motor. I cannot speak to its durability yet as I’ve only used it on a couple of projects, but it has worked very well. The flex shaft makes it very versatile for multiple different jobs. I personally got it for cleaning metal in a hard to reach spot under the hood of my car. It’s accorded Dremel so you don’t have to worry about the battery going dead. The only thing I noticed was the motor labored a little bit if you bent the flex shaft too far. Seems durable enough, and I especially liked the fact that it came with the part number and instructions for replacing the brushes in the motor. ... show more

  • Awesome rotary tool

Great, great tool for the money. Works really well and the added control handle is a nice touch for precision milling. Well worth the money

  • Not ergonomic but durable.
Style: Corded Deluxe w/ Collars Pattern Name: Tool Kit
I have owned one of these tools for years now and it is going as strong as the day that it was purchased. The tool is a little bulky with the cord and the big body shape. However, the value is there for the kit. You get a ton of accessories. The unit has sufficient power for most tasks, even with the flexible extension in place. ... show more

  • Decent rotary tool, internal details
Style: Cordless Pattern Name: Tool Kit
Summary: I have had a Dremel tool in one form or another for the past 30 years. So I was excited to try a 2-cell 8-volt lithium ion powered version. Observations: Lots of reviews on this item, so I'm going to skip over what everyone else has already said, and discuss one issue which I discovered during first use, that the key lock mechanism does not appear to be very solid (lots of play). My first test was to elongate some mis-drilled holes in a tool rack, using 1/8 carbide drill bits (both items listed below). The holes I was elongating was 5/16" in diameter, and I opened the slot about 1/4". I used speed 3 for most of the grinding, and as you can see from the after pile of steel dust, it was very effective. When I first tightened the collett with the wrench, I noticed that the lock mechanism had a lot of play. My first thought was that it was plastic, and I would probably break it, so I tightened it carefully. Disassembly Details: I decided to open up the Wen and investigate the details. There are a total of eight screws, and two are under the label, so you'll need to cut away the label (WARNING: this probably will VOID your warranty). The orange trays are Horusdy Silicone, and worked well to hold the tool during disassembly. I found that the shaft is supported by a small bearing right behind the threaded shaft area. The lock mechanism is a brass piece pressed onto the shaft. There is an aluminum button that is shifted by the black lock button. I was not able to easily determine how to disassembly the lock button, so that is as far as I got. I am satisfied that the interface for the lock is aluminum into brass, so it should be okay, although I did notice some damage to the brass portion (but it still locks sufficiently). Upon reassembly, I applied thread locking compound (Loctite 242, blue) to the set screw (which was loose during disassembly). Internal Details: I also looked at the details of the Lithium Ion battery pack and found it is a 2-cell, with a total capacity of 900 mAh, consisting of two 14650 cells. The industry standard cell for flashlights is the 18650, at a minimum capacity of 2300 mAh, so this is a pretty low capacity setup. Battery pack was marked SixPack Technology, with a manufacture date of 2019.12.15 (Wen tool was 03/2020). There is also a small black wire near the pack, that is a thermometer to measure the pack temperature, presumably to shutdown the tool if the battery gets too hot. Pros: Lithium powered, 5 speed settings, LED light, Cons: Lock mechanism has some play, which I'm concerned might eventually fail. Conclusion: The Wen 23072 appears to be end of life, and also appears to be a rebranded version of the EnerTwist. The Wen (or the EnerTwist) appear to be a decent setup for a rotary tool. I am rating this one 5-stars based on value for cost paid (EnerTwist is $32). • Very good for the price
Style: Corded Basic Pattern Name: Tool Kit
I have had dremels in the past, but over time the motors in them failed. I thought about buying another corded dremel, but the price is 4-10 times the price of this tool. The battery models do not have very good speed control, so I prefer corded as it provides more power. This is the type of tool every home should have. I use it for so many various things.. fixing consumer products, repairing the house, engraving, creating artwork... You never realize how many things you can and will use it for. Not having one is quite painful, just like a screwdriver. This would make a perfect gift for teens+. It is fairly safe at low speeds, and the flex shaft adds to safety as it is easier to work with (and less intimidating). If you can use a drill, hot glue gun, or soldering iron without hurting yourself or damaging equipment, this tool should work out well. The quality of this product is fair. It looks and feels much like a dremel. I think it may operate a bit louder. The flex shaft is a good feature, and goes on easily. Obviously, when using the flex shaft, there is some resistance which decreases output. However, the mobility and dexterity gained makes it an invaluable tool for doing detail work (like shaping plastics, or creating artwork). This happens with dremels as well, though the flex shaft alone for them costs nearly twice what this entire set costs. The manual says to use the shaft it may be necessary to pull the inner wire out with pliers, but this could be bad advice. As long as the shaft is straight, it should come out quite easily, thought you might have to give it a small twist to loosen it up. Removing the inner rod and applying some teflon silicone lubricant will greatly enhance the operation of the flex shaft. The assortment of tools is quite good, and should last a while for casual users. The only thing that is not great is the case, which is fairly flimsy. Unlike dremel cases that have a backing card to fit each tool into, here they are simply thrown into a clear plastic box. Anyhow, the case gets the job done, and is fairly compact. It's a bit larger than my old dremel case, but then again, it also stores the flex shaft. The cutting wheels are different sizes than the ones I'm used to from my old tool, but that's OK. A lot of the tools are slightly different than ones made by Dremel, but they're all interchangeable anyways. These seem to be more similar to the old Dremel bits with how the wheels and belts attach than the new ones, but no complaints here. I had a slight bit of trouble with the sanding wheels, as they do not fit snugly to the base. Wrapping some electrical tape around the base resolved this issue. ... show more

  • Heats up
Style: Corded Deluxe w/ Steady Grip Pattern Name: Tool Kit
Motor is very smooth and works great. Even though it has a ball bearing design it heats up too hot to use after a few minutes of running.

  • What an outstanding Rotary Tool
Style: Corded Deluxe w/ Steady Grip Pattern Name: Tool Kit
This WEN variable speed rotary tool beats it's competitors by wide margin. I used a similar tool at more than double the Wen's price, yet it didn't function one bit better. On top of it's functionality, the price made this model a great buy.
