  • Works great in rural Nevada
Model name: Overland and Off-road
I was very hesitant on ordering the Drive Reach Overland unit due to the cost. It is a bit pricey. I finally pulled the trigger. And WOW! This made all the difference in the world. It doesn't create or generate a signal, But it will boost all of the big carriers currently offering services here in the states. ... show more

  • Love this product!

Working in the oil field hard to get signal out in these areas. Booster works awesome sending a receiving emails off my iPhone. Text messaging video conferencing when everybody else has barely any signal or at all.

  • Works great when its finally setup
Model name: Overland and Off-road
If you have a fully built out rig then this would be pretty easy to install but for those of us without extensive roofracks mounting this is a pain in the ass. I thought I shouldnt have an issue putting it on a fullsize truck but there is just no place to mount it without drilling into my vehicle. I could have rigged something in the bed but then I cant use a bed cover. I ended up needing to make my own stake pocket adapter so that I can take it on or off without making permanent modifications to my truck Once it is in place it does what it says on the tin. You just have to remember that it isnt magic and wont make a signal where there is none. ... show more

  • expensive, but worked when I needed it (and you DO want the big antenna!)
Surprise! It works! I returned the competitive SureCall product after encountering ignorant support staff and flaky performance in the field. 1. "No Service" performance: THIS one actually does BETTER than advertised. Twice on one trip (Teton Canyon near Driggs ID and BLM land near Mesa Verde in CO) my Galaxy S9 showed no signal at all. Nada. Zero. No bars, no G, no nothing. I plugged this thing in, clipped the antenna to the roof mount I rigged on the factory rail of my Sprinter, set my phone on the internal antenna, and got 4G email and web access. They say it won't work where there is no signal, but in my personal experience the signal can be so weak the cell phone won't even make a call or register a carrier and STILL you can get online. 2. "Weak Signal" performance: With a weak signal (-115db on the Android settings menu) my S9 can still get speed test results of a couple MB. Using the OTR antenna I often got 10X faster speeds and 20-30db stronger signals. Upload and download speed improvements are NOT consistent, which I'm thinking might be due to which frequencies a certain cell tower uses. With a moderately good signal (10MB down, 2MB up without the antenna) the normally far slower UPload speeds often matched or exceeded the normally faster DOWNload speeds. Once, near Vernal UT, I saw 30MB download speed from my phone with the antenna whereas I only got 12MB without it. SureCall never improved usable signals. This one does. Score! 3. External Antenna: I also bought the 4" magnetic antenna (fifteen bucks here on A) and found it was far inferior to the big OTR antenna. Better than nothing, but half again as much speed improvement with the bigger antenna,. In the "no signal" case the small one was not enough to get online while the larger one gave me DSL speeds. 4. Internal Antenna: Plan on laying the phone down on the antenna. Gluing it to your seatback is a terrible idea, because orientation and distance matter A LOT. I bet a lot of the bad reviews could be fixed by understanding antennas and radiation. The cord is not centered in the end of the internal antenna. My testing says more signal comes out the side of the bar nearest the wire, and turning the bar sideways to the phone can damage download speed but might improve upload speed. That's just with my phone, you need to experiment with flipping and rotating the bar until you get the best signal. 5. Antenna separation: I have a metal roof, and found there was no need for horizontal separation between the internal and external antenna. It worked best to have the external on the passenger side of the Sprinter, and the internal antenna on the driver side. It was OK to have the external antenna directly above the internal antenna. Once when I *tried* to move them close together I got the light to flash indicating feedback, but moving the internal antenna back and forth in my 24 foot cargo van didn't seem to matter. ... show more

  • Weak Signal to Full Signal
Model name: Overland and Off-road
First off be aware you cannot generate something from nothing. If you're at 0 bars, it may not have anything to boost. That being said I kept going from 1 bar to E on the first trip with the signal booster, managed 4 bars 4LTE, not even sure where it found it. Several trips to the mountains, trails and beach and its done great keeping me connected. Installed on a Jeep Gladiator, was very easy. Installed on roof top rack, ran wire under driver's side roof and into the cab, comes with brackets, mounts, even shrink conduit to clean up connections and protect paint. ... show more

  • Works as it should but it's to expensive.
Model name: OTR Trucks
This booster does exactly what it says it will. It does help by providing better coverage area while traveling, but it's not like you can go from no service to full bars and can stream video perfectly. It does add an extra bar or two to what you already have which is great and helps alot. But is it really worth the $400 to $500 dollar price tag? PRO's 1) It is very easy to install, basically just plug it in and route it to where ever you want it. 2) It does increase your service by a few bars helping you to be able to make the call or accept one. Or watch a video with a little better quality. 3) I've heard the support is good but have not had a need myself as of yet so this is a plus. 4) it's small and somewhat compact so it's fits about anywhere under a seat or in a console. 5) It has a bright light showing you whether or not you are working correctly or have issues 6) It comes with about everything you need to install. CON'S 1) The 12V power supply / on and off switch does not have a led in it so it is really easy to forget it's on when you leave the vehicle , the bright LED on the booster then drains your battery over night and then your setting with a dead battery the next morning, Possible. 2) The antenna's just push on the booster, so unless you plan to leave it and never deal with it anymore I would guess any damage at all will cause the antenna to not have a tight fit and you will be forced to purchase a new one as I did right out of the box, after the hefty price tag you don't want to spend anymore after the first purchase. I hate dealing with support and do not want to have to deal with all the mess of waiting on them to send me something new when I just purchased it. So I ordered the new one and now I'm ok. 3) The antenna's plugs are not something you can just get anywhere so you can't use anything else or adapt anything else to it as I have yet to find at a local store. The overall review of the product is a mid range for me but not for functionality as it does do well, I just can't get over the price it is to expensive in my eyes and that plus the few other items I listed is why my review is 3 stars. If your at a campground or somewhere similar you can purchase one for around $120, which I have also and it works very well as I went from no service to streaming videos. It is a different brand. I mean your in a vehicle so give it 5 mins and the signal will change anyway so is it worth the hefty price ? In my eyes "NO" it is not. But your application may be different than mine. ... show more
