The beam is made with some soft foam on the inside. When you walk on the beam it feels like very soft. To soft. Needs to be a firmer foam.

I bought this cute floor balance beam for my daughter. This is her first time moving up a level. They are practicing using taller beams, but this is prefect for home. It folds and it’s soft.

My daughter loves this for her gymnastics workout. After a month of daily work, the foam is still sturdy. The height is about 5 inch. Thought it is too shallow but my daughter said it feels ok.

As other people mentioned, this is not a firm beam. It is actually less firm than my 2 inch 4 x 10 We Sell Mats Practice mat. However the fact that it is so squishy makes it great for stability training. Now mind you I am almost 200 pounds and got it to practice some gymnastics tricks I could do when I was younger. I will probably buy a firmer beam in the future and I’m sure turns would not go well for me on this beam (or maybe anyone). But I walked back and forth on it today for an hour (while on a phone call), just to practice balancing and 12 hours later my whole body is sore. (And despite my weight, I do exercise a lot and walk every day sometimes with weights on), so I’m pleasantly surprised by this and I decided to keep it. When I move to a hard beam I’m sure it will seem so much easier after this. I would recommend it if you are looking to improve your balance on a standard beam or even just in general. ... show more

I got an Amazon basics corner climber for my 11mo old grandson, it’s perfect for him. For a different family I bought this cheese wedge, tumble mat and balance beam from “we sell mats” for my 2 and 3 year olds, that are perfect for them. We sell mats brand seems a better made for bigger kids and is big enough to be used forever but would be too big for a small house although it does fold up nicely.
