Heavy enough that a section on the floor does not move (does not require adhesives) on a smooth concrete floor. Getting these to stick to the painted drywall ceiling, however has proven far more difficult than anticipated. I was actually looking for carpet tiles when I seen these. My new apartment only has carpeting in the bedrooms. The living room connects to a 16 foot long halway and it was just too loud without anything on the floors. I thought about the mats for about a week before decision to buy them. I purchased 2 boxes (50 squares). In the living room I covered 16 x8 feet of space and for the hallway 16x3. Later I purchased 12x12 inch carpet tiles to stick on the mats. (Assemble the mats first and then attach self adhesive carpet tiles.) Worked out perfectly. The tiles are soft to wak on when not wearing shoes. I did have to cut some of the tiles to fill the 3 ft width of the hall, but that worked out great. I used large scissors to cut through them. They are durable and firm, yet soft to sit on/walk on. Love the way it all came together. Highly recommended. I will definitely be buying more of these. ... show more

Was looking for nice thick floor mats for kids playroom. These are a good size, thickness and color and feel really soft to walk on. Definitely will make play time a little safer than our hardwood floors did.

    • Great Mats BUT
We ordered these in gray for my son to use under his thomas the train set on our wood floors in order to stop the dents that are made from dropping the trains, to not hear the sound of him dropping the trains and to save his knees from of hours of play on the wood floors. They are fantastic. He can easily put them together by himself (he's 5) and carry them. Plus the borders are great as it makes the edges look really nice. We are hoping once the issue below gets resolved that we'll also use them in his room which has carpet so that the train set up can be used there by creating a flat surface where his toys don't fall over easily when he builds. I don't know if I would recommend using them on carpet if you were doing say activities that required a ton of movement that needs a stable floor but for our purpose it will be fine. BUT they smell. Granted I am way overly sensitive to all smells. They smell like a dirty shoe/rubber/smoke that unfortunately gives me an instant headache. I realize that things like this sometimes have an off gas time period which I am hoping is of short duration. We put them in the garage at night at first and then aired out our house to get rid of the smell and my headache. But in hopes to speed up the process of ventilating them we have moved them outside to our deck. They smell a little bit less now (its been 3 days) but I think time is unfortunately the best way to fully get rid of the smell. For those worried, my husband does not smell anything and has a very very slight headache when around them. My son doesn't seem to have either even though he has been on them for ours now. Here's hoping that it goes quickly as we really love the mats. ... show more

They work great, I just should have purchased 3/4" and not 1/2" and, of course, I've already opened the package and installed them. Non toxic bought this for the bottom of my parrot’s cage. There are 4 so take one out every couple days and replace with clean with. Easy to wash the soiled one . Need this cause Baby Kiwi gets overly excited when play with her bell and cage is almost 4 1/2 feet tall and I worry when she falls about hitting the wire grid at bottom of cage. This will be great.
