  • Great Router
It was tough to install, but my son figured it out, it's working great & has little features that I didn't realize when I ordered it.

  • A mediocre WiFi6 Router
Color: AX3000 WiFi6
This router has very nice signal reach - it still registered has having nearly full signal strength on the opposite side of my home (which is narrow but long, maybe 60 ft long?) and that was without mounting it high up. It DOES have slots on the back so it can be mounted on the wall if you like, that extends its range as well. Design-wise, it seems like it was meant more for mounting too, because its flat saucer shape takes up more space on a desktop than tower-like routers, but works well for wallhugging (the antennae move around so they're not an issue either). Speaking of antennae, I'm guessing this is a 4x4 design (4 antennae, 4 separate streams supported)? it doesn't say in the manual and I might dig deeper to learn more. If so, it somewhat limits the full potential of WiFi 6, which can support DL/UL MU-MIMO up to 8 streams - not so relevant for home use but for enterprise use it could be. And about enterprise use. In encryption options, it has WPA2 and WPA3/2 mixed, but I didn't see anything about purely WPA-3 Enterprise. This may not be so relevent for a home user, but even small offices will be moving to WPA3 if they haven't already, and WPA-3 that HAS to mix with WPA2 loses some of its security gains in the process. It's great for backwards compatibility! but not so much forwards. Similarly, the WAVLINK admin panel - while snazzy and easy to use - still appears to be the same GUI that had security issues before. I can't say for sure about this and it might take more digging than I've time for right now. The admin panel is, however, very nicely designed. I like the layout, minimalist and clean, with easy to navigate tabs, CPU overview, memory overview, devices overview, and an Advanced panel which has options for... well everything really! more than what normally might be needed for a SOHO, and more in a good way to me. The password changing & setup is only a little bothersome (you may have to do it twice, for some reason it didn't stick the first time with me). My overall takeaway: this is like a discount WiFi6 router, but not necessarily at discount prices. It has many of the bells & whistles you'd expect WiFi6 to bring, but not in depth or imperfectly implemented. It is, in some ways, not so dissimilar from some (not all) WiFi 5 routers. It should be adequate for home use (which is what it will do for me), and maybe even small office use, especially as a bridge to newer WPA3 devices or as a stop-gap for something in the future. - - - OTHER NOTES - This will work with OpenSUSE and likely other Linux systems. - Always change your default admin password, network password, and SSID! - If you have other routers in your home, consider having one limited to 2.4 GHz and the other to 5 GHz for better signaling. - If you don't like glowing lights, I couldn't find a way to turn them off. ... show more

  • We'll see how it turns out- update
Color: AX3000 WiFi6
This is a pretty fast router, I was initially sceptical because of the price, but this was in my price range so I thought I would give it a shot. It worked well for about 25 days, then stopped transmitting signal altogether. I'm glad I still had my old router around. I did a factory reset on the device and it has been running smooth for the last few hours, but like I said in my title, we'll see. This thing is our junk, had since the end of August, have had nothing but problems and now it is just dead. No power, no lights, nothing. DO NOT BUY THIS ROUTER. ... show more

Stopped working ten days after the return by date. No tech support available. Spend about $20 more and get a router from a reputable brand.

  • Workhorse of a router
Color: AX3000 WiFi6
I record a live event every month, and I rely on this router to make it all happen smoothly. I’m using an Aerocaster by Roland to manage everything, but this router has been a lifesaver each time. It’s sleek and doesn’t stand out while filming, and while it’s not hooked up to Ethernet, I could easily do so since there’s an Ethernet line right by my switcher setup. The Aerocaster uses iPads and iPhones for switching, and I sometimes use up to five sources. I have one iPad Pro running PowerPoint through a USB-C HDMI capture card connected to a powered hub, which is then linked to this router (my Aerocaster base). I also connect up to four iPhones, with the iPad Pro as the main interface screen for the Aerocaster. So, I end up with six devices on one network streaming video back and forth. Most of the time, I have no issues, and if something does come up, it’s usually a device issue, not the router. The video always comes through the switcher and gets recorded, so I know the router’s doing its job perfectly. I really depend on this router to keep the program running smoothly, and it’s never let me down. If a phone doesn’t record, it’s due to the phone, not the router. This setup has also served me well in off-location events, like multi-day, multi-room events, where the router has consistently delivered reliable performance. While I know this is a niche setup, handling five HD video streams at once is no small task, and this router has performed beautifully. I honestly have no complaints; once I set it up, it’s been perfect for my needs. It’s been great to have a dedicated router for this purpose alone. Pros: Smoothly handles multiple HD video streams across multiple devices Sleek design that doesn’t stand out during filming Consistently reliable performance even in multi-room, multi-day events Easy setup and dependable for niche, high-demand use ... show more
