I have an XTool m1 machine from the makers. I was trying to find some good basswood on Amazon and had a hard time finding anything consistent and good quality on the cheaper side. But you get what you pay for. I’ve gotten pretty great and consistent results with this wood. I’ve used it to make a ton of ornaments this year for Christmas gifts for friends and family. Used this to make coasters, only a few turned out decent , anything with detail just shreds this material, not real mahogany, sheet size is off, and is thinner than stated , not impressed, especially at this price.

The wood came with orange marks all over it. I tried to sand it off and the top layer of wood is so thin that it got worse. Turns out that was the color under the top laminate. Wood cant even be sanded. I will returning it.

    • Great quality wood plywood sheets for laser engraving
I am always on the lookout for some quality plywood sheets of this size to make Christmas ornaments or other small items to give to family and friends. The biggest issue I see with inexpensive plywood sheets like these is subpar quality or slight bowing of the boards making it hard to CNC or laser engrave. These came to me in perfect condition and ready to be made into some fun projects! I measured the boards to see the exact dimensions and they were true to the advertised dimensions of ¼” x 12” x 12”. Although this time I only got a 4 pack of boards as a test to see the quality, I will most certainly get a larger pack next time. I will absolutely buy these again and I would recommend these to anyone on the market for some quality inexpensive plywood boards. ... show more

    • Lots of uses--handy to have around
These panels are pretty much exactly as advertised: Thin, 1/8inch, foot-square sheets of what's probably luan mahogany or something similar. They're true-to-measurement, attractively grained, and pretty easy to cut. About the only reservations I have about these is that they're thin enough that they warp easily; the top sheet arrived with a bit of a bow but can be flattened pretty easily. One thing to be aware of, though: This type of mahogany has a very open grain with pretty large pores. If you're planning on painting the panels the pores will show through, so it's best to scrape some kind of wood filler over the panel surface and sand smooth. That will eliminate the pore issue; I suppose you could also simply put on enough coats of paint (sanding in between) to fill in the pores as well. ... show more

This really goes along with what I have come to expect from xTool in regards to quality. They certainly go above and beyond to make sure they provide the best product to their customers. It certainly is not the cheapest option out there but you are sure to get the quality you are paying for. these blanks are very consistent, nice and flat, no obvious flaws on any of them. We only used one but it performed phenomenally, and with a little wood oil after the engraving the mahogany grain is evident and beautiful. I recommend these as an affordable way to use a high end material.

The sheets I received have a nice grain, are all uniform thickness, are a good size for crafting, and are pretty smooth. I'll probably give them a light sanding just to make sure but I was impressed with how smooth the finish is on these. I haven't tried cutting it yet because I'm still deciding what size book nook box to make but I'm guessing it's going to be pretty straightforward. Great panels to have on hand! ... show more
