I really wanted this to work but sadly it does not. The sales hype for this product made it sound like it would detect items (studs, wires, pipes, etc.) in the wall and then display an image on the screen depicting what item(s) were detected. It also touted the ease of use and the accuracy and laid out lots of 'sales' talking-points that made it sound better than sliced bread. All of these boastful sales talking points are completely false and unfounded. The main problems for me is that for the unit to work it has to be (REQUIRED) connected to the Wi-Fi. What if the house you are working in does not have Wi-Fi or even electricity hooked up? What if the person you are doing the job for doesn't want your device connected to their wi-fi? Beside that the unit has to be calibrated almost every time it is removed from contact with the wall. Calibrating takes a minute or two and wastes a lot of time. It will only work with single-layer new-ish drywall so if the wall you are trying to detect studs in is older or if the walls are a little thicker then you are just out of luck. Conclusion: This Walabot unit is a neat idea IF they ever get one to work like the hype says but in it's current state of development it should not be considered for serious use by either professionals (like by people who do construction work) or even weekend DIYers. Style: Precision Measuring
I don't normally write reviews, BUT, after seeing so many negative reviews, I felt I had to write one here. Mind you, I've only used this product on Drywall... But I've had ZERO problems whatsoever. This thing is absolutely great, and much better than my normal studfinder. Maybe if you have different use-cases or applications for it, it may not be the best. But if you're using this on "normal" (?) drywall, it works amazing. The only thing I don't like is that you have to connect to its own WiFi network (the device hosts a WiFi network that you have to join). I feel like they probably should have used Bluetooth, but maybe there are some technical limitations with that and is why they didn't use it. In any case, the product has worked amazing for me so far, and frankly, I'm bewildered by how it's gotten so many negative reviews. But seeing as 6 out of 10 people have rated the product five stars, I think it's worth giving it a shot and seeing if it works for you. ... show more

So I wanted to install two ceiling speakers to round out my 5.1 home theater to 5.1.2 atmos. I was fairly certain that the beams in the basement ceiling were clear in between but my old school stud finder kept on indicating a cross beam where I needed to place the speakers. Banging/knocking in the ceiling seemed to confirm this to the point that I almost gave up. I decided to give the walabot a chance and am very happy I did! Using it confirmed that there were no cross beams and that I had a clear shot across the ceiling between the studs. One big design flaw is that you have to hold your phone to the walabot while using it... extremely frustrating as I kept accidentally pressing the button to shut the phone down. Would rate it 5 out 5 if they fix this. That being said, it clearly showed where each stud was located and allowed me to put my ceiling speakers in. Would definitely recommend. ... show more

I purchased the WALABOT DIY 2 because I struggled with traditional stud finders. After repeatedly missing studs and driving nails in only to find they went in too easily, I was frustrated. With the WALABOT, I can quickly and accurately locate studs on the first try! The ability to visualize not just the studs but also any wires and pipes nearby has been incredibly helpful. I’ve mounted TVs and run electrical with ease. This product is truly a game-changer—highly recommended! I've seen some complaints about needing to recalibrate every time you connect it to your phone, but I don’t see this as an issue at all. In fact, it ensures that the scans remain accurate and only takes a minute to complete. I appreciate the need for recalibration; it’s especially useful when switching between different materials, like drywall for one project and plaster for another.
