I got this light because HD/Lowes doesn't have this small of a base, which I needed for a hallway with j-box to one side. I've installed several dozen lights before, so I know what to expect. These are the cons I saw: 1) No extra screws for j-box clamp. These are needed so that you can have a solid ground from the j-box to the fixture, I think. Usually there are two sets of screws; one for the clamp to the j-box, and one for the fixture to the clamp. Sure, it would work to use one screw and put the clamp between the fixture and the j-box but then you won't have a firm grounding position. 2) No ground screw on the metal plate? I've never seen this before; all fixtures I've installed have a separate ground wire for safety 3) No insulation behind bezel? Granted, I'm not going to use an incandescent bulb but surely you should have some kind of insulation between the j-box and the fixture, in case someone uses an incandescent bulb, you don't want the heat buildup to get to the j-box 4) UL listed it said but wonder why no ground attachment? It seems to work but not happy about no ground wire to the fixture, and not even sure if this received UL listing or is it perhaps a counterfit tag? Purpose of grounding fixture is in case hot wire nut gets loose and touches the fixture, you don't get shocked by touching it, because the circuit breaker would trip. ... show more

I bought 3 of these to replace the 30 year old ones. With a 60 watt bulb they are bright and functional. Foyer and hallway are lit up fine. Wiring was normal for a 60 year old building. First photo on and second off.
