We were concerned the solar stair lights would be too contemporary for our historic register home. They are triangular blocks of lights with a solar collector on one side and were a bit obtrusive when installed as directed out of the stair overhang. We set them on the stairs without securing them in place and loved the subtle lighting they provide after sunset. We noticed that as the sun moved through its daily arc, it shone directly on each light at some time during the day so we moved them against the stair risers and under the step overhang where they still get enough light to shine every night and are not noticable during the day. We live on the upper floor of a multifamily building. The switch for the porch light is in one of the ground floor apartments but they don’t leave it on because it shines into their bedroom. However, the stairs are ridiculously hazardous in the dark. After the fifth and worst fall for our family, we needed an immediate solution that would accommodate everyone. These lights are perfect! I set one on every other step and pointed them away from the windows. It gives us enough light that we can see where each step is but isn’t so bright to be a nuisance. Plus, I didn’t have to call the landlord to ask for an electrician! It’s only been about a week, but they have fared well in the rain and maintained light after cloudy days. We’ll wait and see about the snow, but even if I have to replace them in the spring, it’s worth it to me! ... show more

Like some other reviewers, I did not use the tape or mounting brackets, I just set them on the stairs. They are heavy enough to not blow away, and the cats don't bother them. They are plenty bright, see picture. I just leave them on all the time, very easy. They charged well even on a cloudy day. I went out at 4 am and they were still at full brightness. I have had them a week, so I don't know how ling they will last but it surely solved our problem at a reasonable cost. I thought I might need one on each side of the steps, but it isn't necessary. Highly recommend, I will prbably get more for other steps. ... show more

These small solar lights have really helped with our front stairs to provide light without a wired in system. The stairs are old wooden porch steps and these lights are perfect to produce enough light that visitors can see the edge of the steps. They are not extremely bright, but cast a yellow light that is strong enough for the purpose. During the day the solar panels are visible and may not be to everyone's esthetic. I was actually very surprised at how nice they look and the light they give. I only order 12 to make sure they were going to work for my outdoor steps, these are perfect. They are out of the way and I put them each step on opposite sides the light the steps and even that was enough light. I am going to order another bundle or 2 so I can finish outdoor lighting. I have it on every other step with a light on each side. Its bright enough that i dont feel i need more lights. Comes with strong adhesive and even screws. (Box was labeled as warm, and I double checked my order too.). Company responded quickly to my email and asked for a video showing them the problem. Promptly fixed the situation for me.
