Overall I am very pleased with this light. It came packaged nicely and well protected. Inside there was a nicely printed full color manual as well as carabineers, rope hangars, and the power cord. The light is incredibly bright and pulling a true 232 Watts of power with a power factor between .99 and 1! I verified the mean well serial number and it is legitimate as well. The light doesn't generate a large amount of heat and the heat sink works well even with the driver mounted on top. With no fans or ventilation the highest I have seen is 130 degrees for the heatsink and board face and 145 for the driver. When there is ventilation the average is 110 and 114 respectively. Putting a small fan over the top drops those numbers to ~100 in an area with ambient temperature of 72. The power cord is sturdy and is marked as UL listed. The dimmer switch is very smooth and the light responds accordingly. The only negative I have about the light is the conformal coating over the LEDs appears to not have fully attached in the space between some of the rows. I am not positive if it's not attached or just scuffed though, it does not change appearance when light pressure is applied. Overall I am very happy with the purchase of this light and I am debating buying the smaller light to have on hand once the price comes down again. I highly recommend this light especially since the warranty covers 3 years! ... show more

Great lights! Plants are happy! They work with vivosuns controller, but the lights lose a few% of wattage when used with the controller.

I have been using ViparSpectra lights for serveral years both on my reef aquarium as well as my grow space. I just up graded from the older blurple lights I purchased an XS2000 last month and just purchased 2 xs1000’s to place on each side of it in a 5x3 grow space. I won’t need anything else. UPDATE November 2021 Just finishing up with first cycle. Harvest will be at least double of the last one. I'm seriously impressed with the performance of these lights. They ran 24/7 for the last three months and got nothing more than warm to the touch, even the power supplies weren't too hot to touch. (By the way... used to design MeanWell power supplies into projects before retiring.) This is very good equipment. Only concern could be the far right spectrum, above 700nm. The science is still coming out. I need to do more reading before forming a hard opinion about it. VIPAR Spectra did include some IR on this fixture (ahead the science coming out really). May come up with a way to supplement the IR toward later life of the plants. All in all, this a very good purchase. I'll look to VIPAR Spectra first for future purchases and will recommend this fixture to anyone. Previous review Have to say this little light is a tank. It's a single PCB with all the LEDs and is mounted to a solid passive heat sink. Exactly what I wanted to build with Samsung components but this gem is well below my cost to construct one. The board is also coated to protect against water intrusion. Nice. The dimmer is very smooth and well graduated so you can tell exactly where you need to set it. As for the light generated, its very blue compared to my old LED fixture. It was a cheap full- spectrum, no-name light bought off of Amazon about the years ago. Worked just fine and still does. We'll see how well this bluer light does especially during later stages of growth. All in all I'd say this was a good purchase. We'll see if it qualifies as a great purchase in a few months. ... show more

So I got this because I couldn't afford the vivosun vs4k or the spider farmer 4k. I wasn't sure about the company at all or the light so I just ordered a 2x4 light instead of 4*4. This way I have the ability to try it first before I commit to a big one. I'm amazed!!!! Every expectation has been FAR exceeded! Soon I will be getting the 4x4 for the Big tent so I will be changing all of my lights to these. In a matter of just one week of using this light Ive noticed a huge difference in bud growth. Previously I was running two vs1000s (only had a couple plants going) and it did incredible through the veg face and it was flowering the plant as well, but it was happening very slowly in the buds didn't seem like they were developing fully. With just one week I noticed an enormous difference! I'm talking night and day kind of difference, honestly! So to answer a lot of the questions that I'm sure other people have because I didn't see any very clear answers to it in their views that I read before I bought it; it does flower well and beautifully! Large dense nugs :) One thing you'll notice if you look, is that these more expensive vs1000s and the vs2000 have the exact same diodes as this light does, and this driver is actually better than the one on the vs1000 the vs2000 and the spider farmer 1000 and 2000! it's a steal. This light is awesome and it saves you a ton of money 💰🤑. We all know that Amazon boxes have a tendency to show up looking like they just got put through a meat grinder, but this thing is packed extremely well. This thing would survive a tornado a hurricane and a nor'easter all in the same week 😂🤣 It's a great buy in my eyes. ... show more

Does put out a little heat. So if your trying to grow spag moss its tough. Still trying in covered containers. My orchids and nepenthes love this light. I have it about 18 inches from the smallest nepenthes. And for those wondering. My orchid that only ever bloomed once is a week and a half from the buds opening........on TWO stalks. Nepenthes are putting out leaves and pitchers as well. Light does have some weight, it is bright and I run it at 100 percent. The included lines and straps are all you need to set it up. All that being said, this set up is in a grow tent with the front flap open with no fan at the moment. ... show more
