  • Aggressive old skool cement for your vinyl patching requirements
This cement is old-skool. It is not like the stuff commonly sold under a popular simian branding scheme (you know the one - with the large ape on the label?). Nope, this stuff is imported from overseas, where the regulations for VOC in glues is obviously different than in North America. This is formulated how vinyl cements should be formulated, which is to say aggressive. So this stuff is a lot like the glues you used to get in yesteryear, which is to say effective and fast at vinyl and rubber patching. Works as tire patch cement too, if you are out of that. Do note that you must VERY TIGHTLY CLOSE THE LID or the volatile solvents will evaporate out really fast. That is the price of admission for these kinds of solvents. It is not a product flaw. So, plan on or get used to using Channel-Lok pliers to close it back up. If you do that right, it should last for quite a while. I take the additional step of sealing it inside a peanut butter jar, which vastly improves the shelf life. For those of you who ignore this and leave it loose and open, expect that it will turn to gummy uselessness pretty qucikly. That is NOT the fault of the glue, that is user error. So, if you need a genuine old-skool style aromatic hydrocarbon based vinyl/rubber cement that works like grandad's did, this is the stuff. Five stars - use with appropriate caution. Keep out of reach of children, etc. Get it done the first time and quit wasting your time with the monkey-style "safe to eat" stuff. ... show more

  • Just Might Work
Since just after Christmas, I’ve been trying to find an adhesive that will stick some building blocks that are supposed to eventually take the shape of train cars carrying various things. Because the blocks don’t have the quality control of the ubiquitous blocks we all know, they keep popping apart after we’ve completed the structure. The solution is to stick them. This adhesive is basically contact cement and I think that finally this will work. One thing to know is that the integrated brush is MUCH larger than it looks on this page. For fixing pool inflatables etc. it would be great. For what I’m doing, I’m going to have to be much more careful. The can was really hard to open at first, and once you open it, I would suggest immediately putting Vaseline all over the rim and threads or you will find yourself unable to reopen it ever again. ... show more

  • This is a pretty strong vinyl adhesive but a little overpriced.
I got this to reattach the vinyl-backed upholstery on the A and B pillars of my ancient Mercedes sedan. Years of heat cycling eventually eroded the original adhesive to the point it was all peeling off in big swaths. Following the directions printed on the can, I applied the new adhesive to the back of the upholstery and waited about 10 minutes for it to get tackier before clamping it down to the pillars. It's important to make sure you use this stuff in a proper temperature range or it won't cure correctly. I had my garage at 68F but I wouldn't try it much colder than that. The smell is not overpowering and it dissipates as it cures. Within 6 hours, you couldn't smell it at all. I let the car sit for a full day before driving it so the vibrations wouldn't affect adhesion and, so far, it's been a perfect repair. I did not need to use either of the patch mats that are included (these are for fixing popped inflatables, and the like) so I can't speak to their performance, but I think it's a convenient addition they threw in and they seem thick enough to do the job if you need it. I also used this to recover a worn seat cushion on my 1978 Wetbike with marine PVC-based waterproof upholstery. Because it's the middle of Winter, I haven't been able to test this repair in the water, but I will come back over the Summer and update this. I took off a star because I think it's overpriced by about 20% compared to what I can get at the big-box hardware stores, but I'm pleased with its performance thus far. ... show more

  • Great to fix my pool liner
I got this to fix my pool liner, and oh boy, does it work well. Note: - Make sure surfaces are totally dry! I had to take out most of the water in our pool and let sit a couple days so that surface was totally dry. - Use according to directions - this guy sticks! - I used it both with patches and to also plug some holes/cracks around an old pipe/output. Made sure to let it cure extra long. - The vinyl liner patch was pretty much the same color as my pool's. Made for an almost invisible patch. - Good value for the quantity and quality. ... show more

  • Comes with patches, handy product!
Love the patches this comes with. Would love if it came with more of the thick vinyl patch material! The only instructions are on the bottle, the box was blank and contained only the cement and some patch materials. Happy with this product so far. Using it to patch a waterproof gear bag and a torn raincoat, and will patch an air mattress if I can find the leak! Will update this review if it has poor adhesion over time, weird flexibility, etc, once I fully put this to the test outside using the gear, but so far so good! ... show more
