If you need to make an occasional cup of coffee, or if you have pods that won't work in a keurig machine, this could work for you. However, unlike a keurig, if there's no water, it will still allow you to turn it on and it will heat up. I'm assuming it will also shut off at some point, but it will get hot. If you add water when it is hot it's going to react violently and a large burst of steam will blow off the connecting hose in the reservoir. It will then pump hot water into the reservoir, and some of that water will push past the lid and make a mess. It's not difficult to put back together, but just beware that if you do get it hot without any water in it, give it time to cool off before adding water to it. ... show more

I'm not sure what I expected. It's a small unit, comes equipped with tiny filters if you use the ground coffee. If you use any type of mug other than a standard coffee mug, it will not fit. My larger mugs wouldn't work, even if I took the "coffee pad" at the bottom of it off. Easy to use and set up, and takes up very little room. ... show more
