  • Very nice coffee maker
Color: Brushed Silver
I got this to replace my old Keurig that died after 15 years! I really like the features on here: 1) big water reservoir, with a replaceable filter. 2) lots more cup size choices. I don't do iced coffee but I like that there is a button for that (not sure what it does different? you're still brewing hot coffee, just into a cup full of ice. Maybe it adjusts for less room in the cup due to the ice?). I also didn't know, but like, that it has a removable filter that mounts in the water tank. You get one filter with the unit which it says lasts 2 months. You can get them online here for a reasonable price. they look like little woven pods, and they contain charcoal. But I like the idea of filtering the water BEFORE it gets inside the coffee maker--hopefully that makes it last longer without accumulating crud on it's insides. The one feature I didn't fully understand was hot water on demand. Just press the button and get plain hot water right away. Great for tea, etc. Well, I tried it and it does not come out through a separate tube, so if you've left a K-cup in the unit, you will get watered down coffee. But now that I've adjusted for that, I like it--in addition to making tea, it's great for fixing a bowl of instant oatmeal quickly, and it makes it hot but not too hot to eat. Overall, very nice. Hope it lasts a long time like my last one. ... show more

  • Terrific coffeemaker
Color: Brushed Gold
When my much cheaper Keurig gave out after only a month (!) I decided to go with something more reliable and substantial. I chose the Keurig Elite and it’s worth every penny and then some. First of all, the color. The Brushed Gold is stunning and it stands out from the sea of black and gray units. The shade isn’t at all cheap looking or garish. It’s understated and elegant, adding a beautiful touch to my kitchen. As for the coffeemaker itself: It’s very simple to operate (straightforward instructions are included of course) and you don’t need a degree in physics to make a cup of coffee. There are 5 cup sizes to choose from, all the way from a tiny cup to a travel mug. There’s also a STRONG button for more robust-tasting coffee. I love this feature since I prefer drinking COFFEE and not watered down liquid. Although I never drink iced coffee this machine includes the iced coffee option with simple instructions. The drip tray is a cinch to remove and clean as well and there are lights that illuminate when the water level is low or it’s time to descale. The water reservoir is generous but there’s only one negative thing about it-you can’t see the water level from the front, only from the side. But this is really a minor issue for me. This machine has a clock and it furnishes just hot water for tea or soups with just the press of a button. No more boiling water on the stove. You can program a timer on this unit as well. I never use this feature but it’s there just in case. Another nice feature is that it’s relatively lightweight even with a full water reservoir. You don’t need a crane to lift it for cleaning or moving. And lastly- the unit accepts not only the standard Kcups but also the reusable pods that you fill yourself. (I use the metal pods, not those plastic mesh things). Whether you use a standard pod or a reusable one this Keurig delivers a perfect cup of coffee every time. I am thrilled with the Elite Keurig and highly recommend it. ... show more

  • Way better than our 6 year old K75
Color: Brushed Silver
Our 6 year old K75 died recently. The typical with those, the air pump went out on it. So I looked into the new ones and went with the Elite. I read several reviews that said it made weak coffee even with the strong brew setting turned on. There were way more positive reviews, so I pulled the trigger and went for it. I can't help but think that the people that left the reviews saying the coffee was weak, were trying to brew a travel mug size with a single coffee pod. I'll explain why I think this further into the review. First, lets talk about the physical aspects of this machine. Quality seems to be much higher than on our old one. It just feels more solid, the bale is actually made of metal on the Elite, it was plastic on the K75. It's smooth operating and just feels solid. The water reservoir is larger and has a much better sliding attachment system. Very easy to get on and off. The drip tray is not as tall, so you can get taller mugs under it without removing the drip tray, and if you do have to remove it, it's quick and easy. No water reservoir on the left side to get int the way anymore. So I feel the design if far superior to that of the K75, at least on the outside. Now, as far as how well the Elite brews coffee. Absolutely phenomenal cup of coffee. Best we have had from a Keurig ever! So, let me preface this a little bit. We personally don't use the coffee pods, as we don't like to contribute to plastic in the landfill if we don't have to. We get whole bean coffee and grind it fresh with a high quality burr grinder and use the "My K-Pod". This actually has two fill lines for coffee grounds. One for normal size mugs and one for travel mugs. My wife and I like our coffee strong, and we use a dark roast, so we filled the My K-Pod with coffee to just below the travel mug size. Set the Keurig Elite to strong brew and then selected the largest mug size, which says it's 10oz. This made a really good, strong, full flavored cup of coffee. Far, far better than our old K75 could do. We did the same with our K75, even selected a smaller cup size and couldn't get anywhere near the strength that we are getting with the Keurig Elite. I wasn't happy about having to buy a new coffee maker, but it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. We are very very happy with the purchase. You won't be disappointed with this, especially if you like to grind your own coffee. So, this leads me to think that maybe some of the people that left one star reviews were using normal coffee pods, possibly using a light or medium roast, and selecting a large cup size. Of course, I don't know this for sure, but then one star reviewers rarely put any detail into their reviews. It's one star and one sentence. If you want good coffee, grind it fresh with a good quality grinder and use the My K-Pod. This gives you control over freshness, grind quality, and you can put in more grounds than a standard K-Cup. Follow the instructions, don't grind the coffee too fine, don't overfill and don't compress the coffee grounds. You should be able to shake the My K-Pod and hear them moving inside, (make sure you have the lid on when you do this). If you can't get a good cup of coffee out this, then you are doing something wrong. ... show more

  • It works! What else do you need to know?
Color: Brushed Slate
We had one of the original Keurigs that finally started to act out after about 6 or 7 years of moderate use. I searched around for a replacement, and this model was as close as I could get. It seems not as sturdy as our old one, but so far it's been cranking out the go juice on demand, with no issues to report. It's easy to use and program, and takes up no more counter space than our old one. Give it a try if you're on the fence about it. ... show more
