This is a very well packed SAE & metric rivet nut kit. The rivet nuts are coated steel (likely a cadmium plating with chromate conversion coating) with the more common sizes well represented. The included portable case is well made, if a tad small for the amount of rivnuts provided. Like I said, very well packed. If you are new to using rivnuts, then I highly recommend that you get a rivnut hand tool for setting the rivnuts, especially if you plan on using these a lot. I have used the flat steel bar with a bolt for setting aluminum rivnuts, which will work for smaller steel rivnuts. I also have a hand riveter wrench for small aluminum threaded insert rivnuts. I have found that for 1/4-20 or M6 and above, that it’s best have the larger rivnut hand tool. It will save you a great deal of grief and aggravation, as well as creating a more professional result for your efforts. The other thing that I have found with this set, is that you will need some letter drills for proper hole sizing for three of the rivnuts. The 8-32 and 10-24 require a “J” drill, and the 1/4-20 requires a “T” drill. The first 1/4-20 rivnut that I set in a 23/64” hole did not turn out well. Too large of a hole, and the rivnut scrunched over to one side. The rest of the rivnuts work well with fractional drilled holes. The easiest way of checking is with a fractional drill index plate. Should just slip in, but not have to be forced. I also use these rivnuts for making wooden threaded knobs, for wood tooling jigs and wood projects that require some sort of adjustment where a wrench/socket isn’t necessary to tighten to hold. I’ve found that epoxy works better than wood glue, especially if you use any kind of oil finish. I use a broken 1/16” hex drive drill bit, sharpened at an angle to form a hook to gouge the inside of the drilled hole for a little better grip, as well as room for the epoxy. You know you been meaning to and everytime you grab the gun you say "I need to order some rivnuts!" And you forget until you grab it and say it yet again.... If you say you'll do it later, you know as well as I do, the cycle will only repeat!!!! A big assortment at not a big price! They feel sturdy when crushing (oxymoron) and holds in great! The case is sturdy and not going to spontaneously explode for no reason resulting in you having to pick them all up and no clue which is what! I appreciate that! The label on the lid is well marked and easy to read (if you're not used to how they read, you'll be backwards on it! It is proper, I never was able to get it right at the hardware store either!) No complaints here! And if you don't have a rivnut gun yet, but this kit and then buy a gun and do it right from the start! (They come in a couple flavors, I prefer the straight ones you use in the same way you would use a bolt cutter!) FYI, the big Johnny's work easy with a bolt! An impact with pressure pushing in and fast. That initial bolt head to rivnut contact is crucial so start the thread then let er eat so it runs up on it! ... show more

I ran across these recently and realized how much easier it will be to do some of the metalwork in my shop. Just drill the hole and use your rivet nut gun (not included), and you're ready to bolt down a metal plate or whatever you're using for your project. These are pretty good rivet nuts. Didn't have much issue with most of the ones I tried. The ones I did have issues with were probably a skill issue. It was mostly the larger ones I had issue with, which were on the high end for what my rivet tool could handle. I ended up stripping a couple of them while trying to rivet them. The container is meh. The nuts fit inside, but you can't really have the nuts properly divided by the dividers. That's why they ship it with some of the dividers just laying down inside and the rivet nuts in bags. Also, not a fan of how they labeled the layout of the container. It's a mirror label which just makes things more confusing because they show dividers that don't match the container. The Vigrue carbon steel 580 piece kit is the perfect kit for those working on building large robots (like for the FIRST competitions in high school). When paired with a drill powered pneumatic rivet nut tool, these things are nothing short of epic. Just drill a hole wherever you want to mount something, screw whichever sized Vigrue nutsert onto the rivet nut tool and pull the trigger. That's pretty much all that there is to making the perfect mounting point for whatever you need to mount. They also make stainless steel versions of these nutserts that I used on my car to put a 1/4" thick aluminum skid plate underneath my car as the factory original one was plastic and cracked and broke apart after many years of use. I had to add a few extra mounting points using existing holes that were in the subframe so I just inserted the nutsert into the existing hold, pulled the trigger on the adapter tool and now I have a skid plate fit for off-roading.
